MX vs. ATV Untamed has been released on a number of different systems this year. If you played one console version of the game then you've pretty much played them all. That's not the case with the PSP version of the game, which features a unique main mode of play.

A Platform Too Far

Have you seen all the features of this game? The minigames alone rank up with Dirt and Motorstorm. Heck, jsut try to freeride in motorstorm. I almost freaked when I saw the "helmet cam" view at ful speed. What a rush!

You might not convulse with pleasure at the sight of labels like MX (motocross) and ATV (quad bikes), but when brought together with buggies, 4x4s and monster trucks and vast tracks full of huge jumps, as they are in Rainbow Studios' MX vs.

The title of MX vs. ATV Untamed hints at the possibility of two merging gameplay styles, yet being quite inexperienced with the whole off road racing genre, I played the game with little expectation of this.

As a casual fan of motorcycle racing games since the original Excitebike on the NES, and someone who has enjoyed more recent fare like Excitebike 64 and ATV Off-Road Fury 4, I approached MX vs.

One thing I love about Untamed is out intense the racing can be - when the courses are jam-packed with racers, and you've got five drivers in a variety of different vehicles jockeying for position at 100+ MPH, things get chaotic and in a good way.

MX vs. ATV is a game that is 'fun enough'. There will be gamers who will find a lot to like, and perhaps even love here, but it's unlikely they'll be coming back in six months time to relive the experience.

Rainbow Studios has given birth to the x-th MX vs ATV game and the pregnancy was no doubt not filled with rest and selfconfidence. With DiRT and Motorstorm some topgames have risen in the genre that attack the niche of the series with polished and exciting gameplay.
