This is not my Dante. Having played the previous games in Capcom's Devil May Cry series, I've grown attached to the platinum-headed bad-ass Dante. You know, the one who runs the Devil May Care paranormal detective agency and battles demons on behalf of his clients, usually cumulating in a conspiracy...

Dante must realize he's inside a video game. His world is an urban wasteland beset at all times by demonic creatures, yet all he does is laugh. Surrounded by such madness, most would live in fear. But not Dante; his only concerns are weapons, women, and the occasional slice of pizza.

Action is crisp and runs smoothly; Concept art gallery a nice addition; Combat still feels fun and rewarding

High-definition visuals are inconsistent

Prima facie, DmC Devil May Cry seems like a rather risky reboot. The franchise possesses a deep legacy guarded overzealously by a legion of hardcore fans. However, this doesn't stop the reboot from making massive changes not only to the canon, but to the very essence of the franchise itself.

Every once in a while, a title comes along that re-defines the future of gaming. It's a turning point in game development, and spawns hundreds of budget clones that try to cash in while it's hot. In 2001, DMC was one of those games. It single-handedly invented the action game genre as we know it.

It pains me to inform parents that one of the greatest action games of all time is one of the most "adult" and perverted of this generation. I think the "edgy" argument is tired and may have even ruined the franchise.

Game environment immerses the player into it & frame rate is fluid to follow the action. The game overuses the orange/red color palette as well as the green/blue one which tends to saturate the world you are in after a couple of hours into the game. This turn out to be a good game.

Devil May Cry, or DmC as it has come to be known, is a mind-blowing reimagining of a Capcom series that sees players setting out on a journey that is a retelling of protagonist Dante's origin story.

There's been no shortage of handwringing about the new Dante's jaunty hairdo, but deep down, we've always suspected that Ninja Theory's Devil May Cry reboot would sink or swim on the strength of its gameplay.
