DmC: Devil May Cry: Vergil's Downfall Review

There is some fun to be had with Vergil's Downfall-mainly the experience of playing as Vergil himself-but you'll have to ignore some of the add-on's own downfalls to be fully satisfied with this package.

Playing as Vergil feels and looks great; Interestingly dark plot does a good job of making this feel like a prequel (and homage to DMC3; Offers a single memorable boss fight

Frequent low-severity bugs; typos and glitches detract from overall experience; 2D animated cut-scenes fail to impress; Feels artificially lengthened; and doesn't offer much replay value

DmC: Devil May Cry review

Change can be scary. When Ninja Theory's DmC was announced, many feared it would be an insult to Capcom's sacred hack and slash franchise. But it isn't. DmC is a fantastic action game, featuring intelligent combo-centric combat and creative world and boss designs.

The stylish combo-driven combat; The top-notch level design; Finding collectibles and testing your mettle in challenge missions

The lack of enemy variety; Imaginative bosses don't test your skill; Lackluster story feels like a missed opportunity

DMC: Devil May Cry PS3 Review

Other console/handheld formats: Xbox 360 When it was first announced, DMC: Devil May Cry wasn't exactly met with warmth by the Devil May Cry fan base. They didn't appreciate the fact that the iconic series hero Dante didn't have white hair anymore, nor did they have much enthusiasm for the...

Devil May Cry HD Collection

Superb: A hallmark of excellence. There may be flaws, but they are negligible and won't cause massive damage to what is a supreme title.

DmC: Devil May Cry Review

Dante has never been an honest person. He was all style and motivation, exaggerated more as the Devil May Cry Series series continued, shifting Dante from moody anti-hero to a smarmy sideshow clown. The most genuine Dante appeared in Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening , an apt title.

Fleshed-out story; Solid humor; The grooves of combat

Devil May Cry

I've had a rather love-hate relationship with the hack-and-slash series Devil May Cry over the years. The first of its demon-slaughtering instalments served as my introduction to this oft-sidelined genre and, even though my scores were never anything to write home about, I managed to both complete...

DmC: Devil May Cry Review (PS3)

Does this stylish action-heavy reboot demand your attention?

Smooth; stylish combat that never gets old; Great writing that does humor surprisingly well; Dante is actually quite likable; Plenty of awesome weapons and upgrades

Dated level design; Platforming can be a bit spotty at times..; ...and having to readjust the camera doesn't help; If you can't get over his look; then you won't like this game

Yeah, The Devil Should Probably Just Go Ahead And Cry

After that I pretty much ignored the series and its on-again off-again reception with each release. When the reboot was announced with a rebranding straight out of Kentucky Fried Chicken and a new style that skewed pretty far the original most dismissed it before we saw a single pixel.

DmC: Devil May Cry (PS3) - Review

No event in recent gaming memory has seemed to match the outcry against Dante's redesign in Ninja Theory's reboot of Devil May Cry . Even last year's controversy over Mass Effect 3 's ending has been dwarfed by the negative reaction to the Son of Sparda's new look.

DmC Devil May Cry Review

DmC is a worthy game to bear the franchise title and with solid graphics, excellent combat and a pretty neat story - it has solid replay value for anyone who wants to get the best scores and all the combat moves as well as beat the hardest difficulties.
