The iPhone SE is the most powerful 4.7-inch iPhone ever. Let's check out that power, and all the other features.

Small but perfectly formed

The iPhone SE is made for maximum portability and hand-feel comfort, thanks to its small but compact design. The Retina HD display might not be the biggest but its vibrancy and sharpness is huge!

A bionic but compact performer

The A13 Bionic is the fastest chip in a smartphone and gives amazing performance in apps, games and photography. If you thought you were enjoying seamless performance in your current phone, just wait until you've checked out this iPhone!

An advanced camera system

The A13 chip takes the cameras to awesome new heights. The set up includes 12-megapixel Wide camera with Portrait mode, Portrait Lighting, Depth Control, next-generation Smart HDR and 4K video.

Superior selfies

On the other side of the phone is a 7-megapixel front camera with Portrait mode, Portrait Lighting and Depth Control

Smart but tough

This might be a genius performer but it is also very robust. For example, check out the water and dust resistance; 1 metre for up to 30 minutes, and an IP67 rating.

A bingeworthy battery

Watch up to 13 hours of video on a single charge. And when it is time to charge up, set it down on a wireless charger or connect to an 18W fast?charge adapter to go up to 50% in 30 minutes.

A newer model iPhone SE 3rd Gen 5G 64GB was released in March 2022.

iPhone SE (2020) review: What's old is new again

The new iPhone SE is an indulgent return to what was but a sobering reminder that even what’s old is new again has limits. If you’ve traditionally been an iPhone person but haven’t got the money for Apple’s more pricey handsets or don’t want to deal with the potential hassle of changing to Android, the iPhone SE is going to be the obvious choice.
Pros:
  • Slick software
  • Surprisingly good camera
  • Water resistance and wireless charging
Cons:
  • Small screen
  • Poor battery life
  • No headphone jack

Apple iPhone SE 2020 (64GB, Black) - Excellent review

This is the phone to get if you just want a iPhone that will last you a few years, but don’t want to pay a lot for it. It might not be the newest model any more but the iPhone SE 2020 offers ‘decent but not top-end’ performance: a good camera, enough power, a great App Store to plunder and a lighter...
Pros:
  • Lightweight frame, Low price for iPhone, Powerful chipset
Cons:
  • Battery life could be better, Old screen technology, No headphone jack

Apple iPhone SE 2020 (64GB, Black) - Excellent review

The iPhone SE 2020 is the best cheap smartphone for most people – its camera, build quality and speed all match more expensive phones. Its smaller screen will also please those who feel left behind by ever-larger devices.
Pros:
  • Premium build, Excellent processor, Very impressive camera, Great value, Waterproof
Cons:
  • Average battery life, No haptic touch on lock screen, No Night Mode in camera

Apple iPhone SE 2020 2nd Gen (64GB, White) - Grade (Excellent) review

There is no conspiracy behind the iPhone SE - it's what the fans wished for, and what the critics love to hate. It's always been this way with Apple - polarized opinions versus massive sales.

Apple iPhone SE 2020 2nd Gen (64GB, White) - Grade (Excellent) review

Our editors were initially quite skeptical heading into this Apple iPhone SE review. Sure, there are people who want a low-cost iPhone with many of the latest features in a smaller package.
Pros:
  • Great performance, Excellent battery life, Lowest price per GB for a new iPhone
Cons:
  • Unimpressive display, Looks identical to the iPhone 5S, Voice call quality spotty at best, No 32GB option: Starts at 16GB and jumps to 64GB

iPhone SE (2020) review

A top-tier processor and solid camera performance make the iPhone SE undeniably good value, especially when you factor in luxuries like wireless charging and waterproofing. Bad battery life, dated design, and a low resolution display hold the SE back though, so in most cases you can still get a lot more for less by resisting the Apple allure and opting for Android.

Apple iPhone SE 2020 2nd Gen (64GB, White) - Grade (Excellent) review

The SE is the little iPhone that could. With a 4in screen and the body of an iPhone 5s, it fits in my pockets better than my iPhone 6s, and it’s easier to use one-handed. But it doesn’t compromise much over its bigger, more expensive siblings.
