iPhone 6S

APPLE HAS UPDATED its flagship smartphones with the launch of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus . The handsets have already been well received by the market, shifting a record 13 million units in their opening weekend - although this record is partly down to the inclusion of sales across China.

3D Touch; super-fast performance; improved camera; premium build

Battery life; Nothing

For this generation of iPhone Apple's tagline is, "The only thing that's changed is everything." Based on our experiences with the iPhone 6s this is only really a half-truth and the implications of it aren't always for the better.

Great cameras; Stunning screen; Blazing fast performance; Best app experience

Apple's interim ‘s' phone reaches its sixth iteration, but can it be more than just a precursor to the inevitable iPhone 7

Excellent screen; Blistering performance; 3D touch more than a gimmick

Screen flash feels gimmicky; No battery life improvement; No optical image stabilisation

iPhone 6s Review and Giveaway

A technically impressive, solid smartphone with a healthy helping of touchscreen innovation, ultimately let down by poor battery life. iPhone 6 users may want to wait for next year's model, but the 6s is a good upgrade choice if you're still using an iPhone 5s or earlier.

Apple iPhone 6S Review

Is iPhone 6S a great phone? Yes, it is. It does have its unique features and they promise a great deal in future updates. Is it worth upgrading over iPhone 5S? 3D Touch; Still a great design; Great performance; Good camera performance; Stable OS

No microSD card slot; Low battery life; No optical image stabilization; Price is quite high

Apple iPhone 6S

We're not sure that statement would hold up in court, but what certainly hasn't changed is Apple's undeniable way of making a great handset even better.

Wonderfully slick in use; Great with video and audio; 3D Touch is surprisingly intuitive

Screen resolution behind some rivals; Not compatible with high-res audio

iPhone 6s - There's just one problem

An iPhone with an "s" in its name is never quite as exciting as one with a new number. The "s" years don't bring slick new form factors but iterative improvements. A bump in RAM or a jump in camera specifications is useful, but it's much easier to get enthusiastic about a change in design.

3D Touch is a meaningful innovation; Amazing cameras; 2GB of RAM makes the iPhone 6s zippier

Battery may underwhelm power users, Still starts at 16GB, More expensive this year thanks to Aus; dollar
