This year, Apple has launched almost -- but not quite -- identical handsets apart from the screen size. We've already evaluated Apple's new 4.7-inch iPhone 6 , and now it's the turn of the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
Elegant slimline chassis with 5.5-inch screen; Solid build quality; Performance boost over iPhone 5s; Good battery life; Optical image stabilisation on iSight camera
Some users will find the large screen hard to navigate; Expensive; No storage expansion; No NFC-enabled Apple Pay support outside the US

Apple is ready to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with its large phone the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. This time Apple did not just deliver one large smartphone but two. Apple iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5 inch display and the Apple iPhone 6 with the 4.7 inch display.
There are plenty of people who will love the iPhone 6 Plus because they've always wanted a larger iPhone. There are also those who have never understood big phones and will not find any reason to if they use this one.
Good; Fantastic performance; Very good battery life; Excellent camera
Bad; Large and awkward to use; Lacks software optimisations
Apple is ready to take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with its large phone the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. This time Apple did not just deliver one large smartphone but two. Apple iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5 inch display and the Apple iPhone 6 with the 4.7 inch display.
In the end, the only trump card the iPhone 6 Plus has over its little brother is its (vastly) superior battery life. Any other nominal advantages - like the optical image stabilization of its main camera and the slightly adjusted, iPad-like software changes - aren't enough to justify buying a device...
Excellent battery life; Elegant design; High-quality display; Fast and reliable performance; Top-notch camera
Effectively requires two hands to use; Too little storage on default model; no microSD support; Non-removable battery; Lackluster front-facing camera
The Apple iPhone 6 Plus offers very solid still imaging and video capabilities all around. Thanks to newer sensor technology, on-sensor phase detection and optical image stabilization image quality has been improved over the previous iPhone generation and panorama and HDR modes are still among the best we have seen. The 6 Plus offers the premium design and materials that are typical for Apple devices and a very snappy overall performance. The 5.5-inch display might be too large for some but if you can live with the device's phablet dimensions it's hard to go wrong with Apple's flagship smartphone.
Reliable exposure and natural colors; Good detail and well-balanced noise reduction across all light levels; Good flash exposure and color; Smooth and stable 1080p video; Very good slow motion video feature; Simple and intuitive camera user interface; Well-stitched and very large panorama images; Efficient HDR mode captures natural results; Premium body materials and design; Responsive camera and overall performance ; Very fast shot-to-shot times and burst shooting; Reliable and very fast autofocus system in both stills and video modes; Good battery life;
Limited camera feature set; File export to computer can be cumbersome; Occasional slight underexposure in night scenes; No dedicated shutter button; Low-resolution front camera; No 4K video;
Should you get the Apple iPhone 6? And which version?
