Review: Apple iPhone 6

For the first time, the big question for Apple fans isn't "are you getting a new iPhone?" It's which iPhone are you getting. A 6 or the ginormous 6 Plus? Yes, the 5 came in two flavors too, but let's be real-no one debated whether to get a 5c or a 5s at launch last year.
Pros:
  • Fantastic 8-megapixel camera with improved low light performance, super fast shutter speed, and jaw-dropping 1080p video capture
  • Zippy overall performance.
Cons:
  • One-handed usability isn't so easy, despite onscreen workarounds
  • Phone design is so slick it's almost slippery.

Apple iPhone 6 Review

A larger, sharper and brighter -- but still one-hand-friendly -- 4.7-inch display, a sleeker design and a faster processor all combine to make the iPhone 6 a solid device. If you're looking to stay in Apple's ecosystem, the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus has a better camera and longer battery life, but many...

Scaled to order

We started this review with a rant we had been holding in for a while. Having gone all the way, we got to see a better side to the iPhone 6, inevitably warming up to it. What these few days didn't change however is how we feel about Apple's way of doing business.

Apple iPhone 6: In-depth review

Apple's iPhone 6 has one of the best displays in a smartphone, enriched by its aesthetic iOS software and a proficient camera that is fun to use. It feels like a smartphone seven years in the making, now more-so than ever following a growth spurt and a subtle redesign. Finally, it is the iPhone fans have long wanted. Rivals usurping market share have pushed Apple to dig deep and do something it's only done once in seven years: increase the size of its iPhone's screen. Even with the face lift, the iPhone introduces nothing new to the smartphone market and little else to Apple's existing users. And it doesn't matter.
Pros:
  • Vibrant display
  • Aesthetic, simple software
  • Premium aluminium body
  • Proficient camera modes
Cons:
  • Apple's strict governance
  • Data- and battery-intensive

Apple is probably the only electronics company that can upset the smartphone status quo with a single announcement. When the iPhone 6 became official, longtime fans hammered the company's servers and stores for the privilege of being one of its first owners.
Pros:
  • It's extremely thin
  • pleasingly light and eminently comfortable
  • with a 4.7-inch screen that's gorgeous despite its relatively low resolution
Cons:
  • Disappointingly
  • its battery life isn't much better than what was packed into the iPhone 5s
  • and lags behind other major competitors.

iPhone 6 128GB

This device is fast. The fingerprint recognition is excellent, no hiccups as on iPhone 5. Siri works very well, you can see the transcription as you talk. The feel of the hardware is good.

Apple iPhone 6 review: excellence exemplified

The folks in Cupertino have brought the iPhone into 2014 in typical Apple fashion: by implementing deceptively simple upgrades with admirable finesse. The new iPhone is more than just a bundle of software refinements mated to a larger display; it's a near-perfect blend of new ideas and proven, honed...
Pros:
  •  Outstanding build quality and feel in hand
  •  iOS more adaptable and capable than ever before
  •  Solid acoustic experience from earpods to loudspeaker
  •  iPhone app/accessory ecosystem still the strongest of all platforms
Cons:
  • The iPhone 6 is available, directly from Apple, in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray trims and capacities of 16GB ($649), 64GB ($749) or 128GB ($849). This being Apple, there's no MicroSD expansion
  • the capacity you buy is what you're stuck with for the duration of your time with the phone
