Review: How does Apple's new iPhone 5s perform as a camera?
The iPhone 5s features a very good camera that’s easy to use and delivers strong results with little user intervention. It’s a logical extension of the Apple design philosophy, with evolutionary performance increases and feature extensions. iPhone photographers looking to trade up will find much to like in the 5s, but it’s not likely to lure users who prefer larger screens or are committed to other mobile operating systems.- Good exposure across a range of situations
- Good image detail, restrained noise reduction
- Pleasing color rendition
- Good flash with notably accurate color
- Very responsive operation, negligible shutter lag
- Very fast shot-to-shot time, 10 fps continuous burst
- Very easy-to-use camera app
- Panorama mode better than most
- Fun slow motion video capture
- Effective HDR mode with very little ghosting
- Digital video stabilization works relatively well
- Well-designed gallery (Photos) app
- Less detail in good light than some higher-res sensors
- Minimal manual control in camera app
- Photographic ergonomics not the best
- Finicky focus confirmation can lead to missed focus
- Smallish screen
- No optical image stabilization
- No dedicated, two-stage shutter button
- Underexposed video in very low-light conditions
- Filter images only exportable at low resolution

Overall, the Apple iPhone 5S looks the same, performs more than 2x better and is future proofing for the next couple of years. Right now, you won't get many benefits from the 64-bit A7 processor or improved graphics or Touch ID fingerprint scanner as there aren't many 64-bit apps, Apple games that...

Fall is Apple season. One year after the iPhone 5, Apple releases its direct successor, the iPhone 5s. In terms of looks, this is not much more than a mere cosmetic update - the 4-inch IPS display and the chassis remain unchanged.- Great performance, 64-bit architecture, Bright, colorful, naturally looking Retina display, Long battery life, Superb build quality, premium materials, Good EarPods (included), Surprisingly precise GPS module, Low emission and power consumption levels
- Poor black levels, poor contrast ratio, Resolution could be better, screen size could be larger, Non-extendable internal storage, Expensive

Summary: Apple's latest high end smartphone should always better than the last one and the iPhone 5s proves that with a better processor, improved camera, useful fingerprint scanner, and more.
Apple iPhone 5s (16GB, Gold) - Excellent review
Having used the phone for a few months now I have to admit that buying the iPhone 5S was a gamble at first (after all it is expensive), but one that I am glad to have done. There are a few niggles that still grate me such as the battery life which could be better, but in some ways considering it has...

We’ve come to expect evolution not revolution from the “S” update to Apple’s iPhone range, but the iPhone 5s could be enough to buck that trend. Inside the familiar metal casing beats a new processor, the Apple A7, making the iPhone 5s the first smartphone – and iOS 7 the first smartphone platform –...
Apple iPhone 5s (16GB, Gold) - Excellent review
Overall, the iPhone 5S is a very new, high end device from Apple that does set itself apart from the previous models in the lineup. For those wondering if they should upgrade or wait for the iPhone 6, the iPhone 5S is a great start and even a jump up from the iPhone 5 released just last year.
