Very very disappointed

I am a hold out from the smart phone market.... I decided to take the plunge and because I have been heavily invested in the Apple Ecosystem for years, I thought I would try an iPhone 5c. Indeed it works.... but that is about all. The camera does not take decent photos...

Apple iPhone 5c review: Plastic body and colour not reasons enough to pick it

After our brief encounter with the iPhone 5c, we have our final verdict on Apple's ‘old wine'. Available in five bright colours of your choosing, the 5c has a very specific demographic in mind unlike its predecessor.

iPhone 5c Review

The iPhone 5c is not a wholly new product, but a successful reworking of a still-excellent smartphone. Apple will find success with the product by marketing the 5c to colour-conscious youth and those who don't need the top of the line features or specs.
Pros:
  • This is very much an iPhone 5 in a new suit
  • Being available in five colours - white, pink, blue, green and yellow - is the first clue that the iPhone 5c is the new iPod touch
  • That it is "unapologetically plastic" doesn't tell the whole story, though, because like Motorola and Nokia, Apple has...
Cons:
  • Let's talk price for a second
  • The iPhone 5c is not a cheap iPhone, nor is it an inexpensive smartphone in general
  • You're still going to pay over $200 for the 32GB model - in my opinion the only one worth considering - which is currently $30 more than the LG G2, and $100 more than the HTC One.

It's a practical phone case, has compartments in it so is very useful for carrying a few cards/cash around. Ascetically, it's pretty and looks like it is quality. However the stitching has begun to unravel after a few days.

Not Australian spec but still very good value.

I ordered my iPhone 5c via DWI with an initial anticipation. Although DWI have Australian contact phone numbers, I had a feeling that DWI was definitely based in HK. Anyway, I was right and also very wrong. Whilst DWI IS based in HK, their delivery times were, surprisingly, fast. Really fast.

iPhone 5c

The iPhone 5c doesn't offer much improvement over the previous generation iPhone. However, the 5c's reduced price point is the draw here. At $99 under contract, the iPhone 5c is the cheapest newly released offering from Apple to date.
Pros:
  • Easy to type on
  • Very portable
  • Easy to read on
  • Easy to navigate
  • Good speaker quality
Cons:
  • Subpar battery life
  • Subpar camera quality
  • Subpar performance - same hardware as the iPhone 5

While there are a lot of things to like about the Apple iPhone 5c, whether its iSight camera is one of those things will depend on your perspective. This smartphone's camera is a simplistic model that will make it easy to shoot basic photographs.
Pros:
  • Main iSight camera in iPhone 5c is very easy to use
  • 8MP of resolution is a nice amount in a smartphone camera
  • Panorama mode is extremely strong with the 5c
  • Image quality is good with this device's camera versus other smartphones
  • Apple iOS 7 works well with this device
  • Improves 1.2MP secondary...
Cons:
  • Not enough options for controlling 5c's camera
  • Exposure accuracy could be better in photos
  • Low light photography results tend to have some noise and could be of a better quality
  • Touchscreen could have more resolution and could be larger
  • No optical zoom option for camera
  • No microSD memory card...

Apple iPhone 5C (Review Apple iPhone 5C)

The colorful, plastic iPhone 5c is a welcome upgrade for existing iPhone 4 and 4S owners, and a great introduction to Apple's awesome app platform at a nice price. It's the best $99 phone you'll find on Verizon Wireless, but otherwise, there's not much new to see here.
Pros:
  • Bright and cheerful new colors., Solid value., iPhone 5 internals are still solid., Stronger RF reception than iPhone 5., iOS 7 is a dramatic upgrade.
Cons:
  • That 4-inch screen is starting to feel small., No significant new hardware features.
