Apple iPhone 5

Apple is out to rule the world smartphone market once again with the release of the latest iPhone, dubbed simply the iPhone 5 . Unlike some of the previous models that were released by Apple in the past few years, this new one actually brings several major changes to the table, including a larger...

Sharp 4-inch retina display; iOS 6 brings 200 new features to the iPhone including improvements to Siri and Facebook integration; Computing and graphics processing tasks are handled much better with the new Apple A6 SoC processor; Faster mobile data is available with support for both HSDPA and LTE...

Lacks NFC wireless technology for currently developing mobile payment systems; Comes with a new dock connector called Lightning that makes old docks and other accessories obsolete

Review Apple iPhone 5 Smartphone

The Apple iPhone 5 smartphone underwent the scrutiny of two reviewers during our in-depth test. The verdict was pretty much unanimous. Even though the device may divide opinions on the web, it ultimately remains a smartphone with both strengths and weaknesses.

High quality auminum body; Appealing design; Thickness and overall weight; Slim Lightning Connector; iOS 6: fast (improved) operatin system; Up-to-date wireless technology; Good performance of the integrated cameras; Applications and games performance; User experience and touch interface; 4 inch...

Battery and memory fixed; Older cables and docks require adapter; Maps software full of errors; LTE only available with T-Mobile; Only 12 months manufacturer warranty; EarPods (Headset) mediocre; Hefty price tag; starting at 679 Euros; We might lament the absence of a killer feature or NFC; but...

Apple iPhone 5 in-depth review -

The response to Apple's huge iPhone 5 launch was more mixed than a Fatboy Slim album. Many applauded Apple on creating what was sure to be the best iPhone yet, complete with larger screen and a new slimline design.

Typically slick Apple design; 4G support (eventually); Bigger, more vibrant screen; Strong performance; Almost the same great camera as 4S; Siri is actually useful now

Eye-wateringly expensive; iOS 6 showing its age; Maps is buggy and limited; Ugly borders around most apps; No memory card slot; Still feels fragile

Apple iPhone 5 review: Laws of attraction

There are many sides to the Apple iPhone 5's story. You can, for example, look at the progress it makes and compare it to the last major Apple release, the iPhone 4. That one was truly revolutionary - or, as the saying went back then, resolutionary.

Quad-band GSM and quad-band 3G support with 14.4 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA; LTE support where carriers support it and CDMA support when sold by CDMA carriers; 4" 16M-color LED-backlit IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen of 640 x 1136px resolution; Scratch-resistant screen glass,

Aluminum body looks cool but is easy to scratch; Proprietary connector; incompatible with previous-gen accessories (needs adapter; The new display is not proportionally bigger; but only taller; Unadapted apps run letterboxed due to the unusual resolution; nano-SIM support only; Apple Maps app not up

I decided to skip the iPhone 4S and made the leap to a refurbished iPhone 5 from AT&T. On February 5, 2013, I received the iPhone 5 and upgraded to iOS 6.1, which went smoothly. After the iPhone rebooted, the screen immediately started to transition to a white haze contrast every 5-10 minutes.

iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 is as ever a thoroughly enjoyable and capable smartphone. It's easy and fun to use and it's secure and stable. The latest generation model clearly gives users what they wanted (look how many have sold): LTE 4G and a larger display.

Bigger dispay; fast LTE 4G; gorgeous design and smooth experience

Feature evolution too slow for some; UI still largely unchanged

Noisy

Tends to rattle and be noisy especially when there is no phone in the holder. This is particularly annoying on short trips when you don't put the phone in the holder, otherwise with the phone in the clamp it is not noisy.

Apple iPhone 5 (16GB/32GB/64GB)

As we noted early in this review, it's now a truism that the latest iPhone is the best ever-a claim that Apple has also made with every generation of iPods, but not always achieved.

Apple's fastest and most capable iPhone yet; The first iPhone to include a 4" screen, LTE cellular support, and two truly impressive cameras; Improved screen and camera color accuracy, plus dramatically improved low light camera performance.

Battery performance too often falls below Apple's best case estimates, particularly for cellular calling and data. LTE service remains inconsistent between neighborhoods, cities, and countries, with widely varying data speeds and availability; some users will see no cellular speed improvements over...

Apple iPhone 5 Review: In Depth

The iPhone 5 is an example of fastidious design, creating (in our opinion), the best looking phone money can buy. It's incredibly powerful and quick to use, has a beautiful screen for browsing the web, watching movies and playing games and the camera is excellent.

Gorgeous design; premium feel; Bigger screen; with improved colours; 4G; Improved camera with Panorama; Fast

Not as comfortable to hold; 4G only works on EE; Maps has a lot of errors; UI lacks features of rivals

It's an odd sensation, but it actually detracts from the experience when you first pick it up. We've praised the weighty feel of the iPhone in the past, lending it a premium feel in the face of toy-like phones.

Great design; Larger screen; Average battery life; Quality camera

Expensive; Poor maps; Ageing OS
