Apple iPhone 12 Mini 256GB - White MGEA3X/A review
Apple released four new iPhone 12 models in a total of three different sizes. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro both have a screen size of 6.1-inches, while the larger iPhone 12 Pro Max comes in at 6.7-inches; the largest for any iPhone model to date.
Pros:
- Strong performance
- Photo quality is fantastic
- OLED display
- Small design
Cons:
- Battery life might be an issue for some
- 5G support isn't widely available to benefit everyone

iPhone 12 Mini review: Apple gave us the small phone we've been asking for
Move over, iPhone SE. This small iPhone is a one-handed phone user's dream. In 2020, phones are big. Even the small ones are big. The iPhone 12 Mini is wonderful because it's not big. It's truly small. When Apple announced the Mini along with the iPhone 12, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max it was a remarkable moment for small phone lovers like myself. For a long time, we've wanted Apple to make a truly small iPhone in the vein of the iPhone 5, 5S or original SE. Earlier this year, Apple got our hopes up a bit, when it released a new iPhone SE which put the brains of the iPhone 11 Pro into the smallish body of the iPhone 8. It's a solid phone for the price, but it's tucked inside a three-year-old design.
Pros:
- It's actually small
- 5G support
- Easy to use one-handed
- Fits in most pockets
- Same cameras and everything as the iPhone 12
Cons:
- Baseline iPhone 12 Mini only has 64GB of storage
- Back glass is a fingerprint magnet
- Battery life is good for the size, but just OK compared to the iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 mini is the closest you can get to the good old iPhone 5s. And it's good!
Pros:
- Tiny
- cute
- pocketable
- comfortable
- Same great display as all iPhone 12 series
- Same great camera as iPhone 12
- MagSafe is cool and has potential
- Fast performance
- lots of headroom
Cons:
- The camera module looks a bit goofy on a mini phone
- No charger
- no headphones in the box
- Battery can drain fast
- 64 GB starting storage is OK
- but feels a bit stingy
- 60 Hz refresh rate

The iPhone 12 mini has no right being the cheapest model in Apple’s iPhone 12 family. Sure, on paper you’re spending the smallest amount on the smallest display, but – like the most engaging gadgets – the spec comparisons simply don’t capture the true charm.

- 5G supports fastest mmWave - if you can find it

- Battery life could be better

Apple iPhone 12 Mini 256GB - White MGEA3X/A review
The Apple iPhone 12 Mini was, for me, a real throwback to the days of compact smartphones before we called them compact, and for many people in and around my generation whose first smartphones were the iPhone 3, 4, and 5, the size of the new 12 Mini will be enough of a draw on its own.
Pros:
- Compact size
- A14 Bionic performance
- Pleasing camera performance
- The most customisable Apple software ever
Cons:
- Battery life is the compact compromise
- Only 12W wireless charging
- Entry-level 64GB model is not enough storage in 2020
