Apple iPad mini 3 review
The iPad mini 3 is a great tablet in almost every way, and if that verdict sounds familiar, it’s because that was our conclusion about the iPad mini 2. Apart from the Touch ID fingerprint reader and the option of a gold-coloured back, there’s no difference between the two models.

iPad Mini 3 performs mostly as expected
Following a couple of weeks of use, the iPad Mini 3 performs mostly as expected. (See Notes)1. For my use, I prefer the smaller size. My wife has the iPad Air that I used for a while to compare. 2. I like how the Unit communicates with my iPhone 5.

The iPad Mini 3 can't compete against another tablet ranged by Apple
Hiding in the shadows of Apple's iPad Air 2 announcement was the smaller iPad Mini 3, neglected, with the only improvement made to the year-old tablet being Touch ID.
Pros:
- Powerful and yet small tablet
- High resolution 'retina display
- Touch ID
Cons:
- Hardware is a year old
- Expensive

iPad mini 3 review
Apple's iPad mini has always been a firm favourite tablet in the Wired.co.uk office. With the iPad mini 3 Apple has kept almost everything from the previous Retina display iPad mini 2 , but added a TouchID fingerprint sensor and now offers a gold finish.
Pros:
- Amazing display
- excellent battery life
- fast processor
- great 3D graphics
- easy to use
- app store still number one for quality and variety
Cons:
- The addition of TouchID and gold colour option just doesn't seem to justify such a premium over the iPad mini 2
- cameras and processor not improved in line with other iPads

One of the nicest compact tablets you can buy, the iPad Mini 3 bears all the quality hallmarks of the iPad line, and it won't disappoint iOS-faithful buyers with the cash to spare. But the now-cheaper previous-gen Mini 2 model is a better value for most folks.
Pros:
- Undeniably attractive design
- Touch ID fingerprint-sensing authentication
- Carrier-switchable SIM on cellular-capable models
Cons:
- Not a compelling value for many buyers
- with iPad Mini 2 at $100 less

There's nothing wrong with the iPad Mini 3. It's a lovely device with excellent performance. We just wish that it had moved forward from one year ago.

Apple is of course a great product. I got it as a gift for my husband, he enjoys using it. I'm not disappointed at all. Great buy.
