Apple iPad mini review: One for the road
Wait, did hell just freeze over? Maybe a couple of degrees cooler? Rumors of a mini version of the iPad had been laughed at, dodged and denied - not necessarily in that order and often all at once. But here it is - the iPad mini is finally a reality.- Compact body: 200 x 134.7 x 7.2 mm, 7.9" LED-backlit IPS LCD touchscreen, 768 x 1024 pixels
- scratch-resistant, oleophobic coating, Dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, carrier-dependent hotspot support, Optional 2G/3G GSM, CDMA, LTE connectivity (data only, separate models, Optional GPS...
- More expensive than 7" Android tablets
- only $70 cheaper than iPad 2
- No Retina display
- 162ppi only
- Same chipset as iPad 2
- now two generations old
- iTunes still required for most of the content uploads
- Reflective screen struggles outdoors
- No standard USB port
- Lightning accessories still rare...
The first time I saw the iPad mini at an Apple Store, I decided to give it a pass. I already had a third-generation iPad with Retina Display and buying a smaller iPad did not make sense. Thankfully, a friend asked me to pick one for him and let me play around with it till I returned to India.
Review: Apple iPad Mini
The war in which everyone seems to be winners is the one we seem to have had with Apple and everyone else in the last couple of decades. It started with Mac vs PC, continued with iPhone vs Android, and now that battle has extended to the tablet market.- Good price
- good size
- all the advantages of a tablet
- great video and audio
- all the apps
- all the features of I devices
- Like all Apples
- not massively configurable
- a new proprietary cable to worry about
Review: iPad Mini
Verdict Consumers have come to expect excellence from Apple products. While the iPad Mini excels as a physical example of design, its technology is now severely dated and it brings little new to the table.- ,
The Apple Beat: iPad mini slowly but surely rules the roost
Two months down the line and the iPad mini has been elevated as my go-to tablet of choice, which is surprising for someone who relies on the larger iPad for so many things.
iPad mini
The iPad mini, launched in October, has started to make its way to users and it seems that a smaller version of the tablet is receiving similar praise as its bigger iterations. Many users who have used the tablet have posted their opinion and reviews of the iPad mini and unsurprisingly, most of the...
Jobs dismissed 7-inch tabs as tweeners. We differ If Steve Jobs was still around we wonder if the iPhone would have ever gone beyond the 3.5-inch screen and the iPad downsized from its original beefy 9.7-inch form factor.
iPad mini review: why Apple thinks you are an idiot
I tried to work out where an iPad mini would fit in my life. Besides the large screen (the TV), the small screen (the phone) and the medium-sized screens (iPad and notebook), where would this new in-between screen fit exactly Is this some kind of Kindle competitor that I would read books on
Review: Apple iPad mini
The iPad mini has an excellent design and a great app catalogue, but it's expensive and the screen can't match Apple's outstanding retina displays.
Apple iPad Mini Review
The iPad Mini is a 4th generation device with a 2nd-generation hardware. For first time iPad users, the sleek form factor and app ecosystem in a more affordable price point (compared to all other iPad models) makes it an enticing offer.
