WD My Passport SSD Review
The WD My Passport SSD marks the brand's first foray into portable SSD storage. Building off of the extensive My Passport line, the SSD variant is available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities and promises to give speeds up to 515MB/s using the USB Type-C port.

Makes my old external hard drive seem like a relic
My high-res photo files are very large, and waiting for my Toshiba external drive to load my images was making me nuts. Sometimes they wouldn't load at all. This has completely solved the problem. Great small form factor, as well, for portability.

WD My Passport SSD 1TB Portable Storage
This is a super compact and fast external SSD. We use it between an iMac and several windows PCs. Never had any problems with it.

Amazing product, but with some minor criticism
You've read all the positive reviews, so I won't repeat them. I bought the 1 TB My Passport and it is easily one-third the size of my previous "small" portable drive (which was barely 750 GB). Three minor comments: 1) I was sort of surprised the drive case is so lightweight - it feels like plastic.

Pros:

- The drive uses USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C to deliver fast performance
- It works with both Windows and MacOS right out of the box and features strong encryption to protect data in case of loss or theft.
Cons:
- The drive's capacity caps at just 1TB
- It's a fingerprint magnet.

The WD Passport SSD is arguably the best in the WD's popular My Passport family of portable drives. The drive is fast, rugged, versatile and features strong encryption as an option. The fact that it works with both Windows and MacOS right out of the box doesn't hurt, either.
