Valkyria Chronicles was originally released for the PlayStation 3 in 2008. It was well received and spawned two sequels and an anime series. After playing this game and getting to know the characters (even crying at the death of one of them), I'm interested in seeing the anime.

Back in 2008, Sony was at a low point in the console war. The PlayStation 3 was more expensive, less popular, and more difficult to develop for than the Xbox 360, and it had few notable exclusives to its name. It was into this climate of despair that Valkyria Chronicles entered as a surprise hit.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is a trip down memory lane. I'm glad to see Sega giving the title and the series a second chance with its release on the PS4. The same great experience remains intact, but with the added dlc and trophy support.

"Beautiful." That's the first word I use to describe Valkyria Chronicles Remastered . I'm not just talking about its visuals, though the term certainly applies. I'm talking about the entire experience. The story. The sound. The characters. The gameplay. All of it is just beautiful.

Although Sega hasn't added anything to this PlayStation 4 port, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered remains an exciting mix of third-person shooting and strategy role-playing. The lengthy quest can be a bit wordy at times, but that doesn't overshadow the great visuals and fun missions.
