Game Review: Ultra Street Fighter II The Final Challengers

Just when you thought that you saw the last spin-off release of the never ending Street Fighter II , we get yet another version released, this time for the Nintendo Switch with Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers .

Its Street Fighter and the gameplay is still sublime; Being able to mix-up classic and modern graphics and sound effects; Beautiful; crisp visuals; Plenty of bonus features and a packed roster not hidden behind a paywall

The first-person Way of the Hado feels like pointless mode; A steep entry price point

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers

While we were very much excited by the prospect of getting a definitive and portable version of Street Fighter II, a game that we've loved for years and have played in arcades and on home console, it took only a matter of hours for Capcom to KO that excitement.

Ultra Street Fighter II Nintendo Switch review - The ultimate version of the ultimate Street Fighter

is a Nintendo Switch reimagining of with a bit of thrown in for good measure, alongside a bunch of new features and balance changes. Now, I'm not going to remind you that is a great game. You know that already from playing any one of its countless iterations.

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers

Somewhere in Ultra Street Fighter II is a brilliant game – and why wouldn't there be After all, Capcom's fighting classic has achieved not only a cult following in the 26 years since its original release, but is still a fixture at tournaments and house parties.

Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers review

It's a shame, because in many ways Street Fighter is perfect for Nintendo Switch. Going with a retro-themed release on the console makes a lot of sense. The Final Challengers is quick to get going, with super fast loading times.

Fun, nostalgic but could have been better for the pricea

It's been fun playing this with friends and family but with a hefty price tag I was underwhelmed foe the following reasons: The new single player mode which lets you use your motion controllers to re-enact moves like Hadouken isn't great and gets boring quickly.

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers Review – Beautiful Fighter Lacks Depth

It's been over 25 years since Street Fighter II first debuted and it is still arguably the best fighting game ever made (even though Mortal Kombat fans might disagree). Since it's initial debut, it has been re-released countless times.

Pretty damn close to Street Fighter II perfection; Online Mode; Beautifully updated visuals

Shallow new modes; Missing Bonus Stages; ‘New characters' are just minor variants

Awesome addition to the long line of Street Fighter II games!

Capcom brings back one of the greatest fighting games of all time, Street Fighter II, in a new HD compatible version with new modes and characters. Options to use both classic graphics and sound or HD graphics and sound or a mixture thereof make the game great for both series newcomers and retro...

There's no doubt that Street Fighter II proverbially changed the game when it came to the fighting game genre. From being one of Capcom's best selling titles to revitalising a genre, Street Fighter II has a strong legacy that's tough to not feel the effects of.

Works perfectly on Switch; Feels true to Street Fighter II

Way of The Hado controls poorly; Only for fans of Street Fighter II
