(PlayStation 4 Review) Transformers: Devastation

Transformers: Devastation does a remarkable job of capturing that Saturday morning magic. The vibrant visuals and spot-on voice acting easily draw the player in, while the upgrades, purchasable skills, and combat system will keep them playing until the end.

The Transformers movies and video games of late seem to have a particularly bad reputation. Michael Bay's ‘splosion fest movies don't quite capture the love and quirkiness of the animated series. The games, at least the few that I've played, weren't the best either.

Fun | Hand-to-Hand combat is great | Combos are Easy to Master | Killer Soundtrack

Not Very Long | Not Many Combos | Story is simple

Transformers: Devastation

I'd have to go back to the PS2 days to find a 'Transformers' game that was as faithful and fun as 'Transformers: Devastation,' and I think 'Devastation' has the edge in both categories.

Transformers: Devastation review – Bayonetta in?disguise

The best Transformers game so far but, more importantly, a hugely entertaining and original action game that is one of the most uniquely entertaining releases of the year.

The action is well up to Platinum's usual standards, with some great boss battles and missions, that really make the most out of the transformation gimmick; Great visuals and presentation

The melee combat doesn't have quite the variety of Bayonetta et al; and the upgrade system for weapons and abilities is convoluted and unsatisfying

takes me back to my youth,

really simple great game with gorgeous graphics and great gameplay, you can button mash your way through it if you wish and love the way the game plays out. it does get a bit "same-y" after a while, but i really enjoyed it.

"Fantastic but short"

from the makers of Bayonetta, the combat is fast, frantic and a whole lot of fun. Nice cell shaded style graphics. A lack of characters to choose from (only 5 autobots available). I dont know the exact time but it felt about 5–6 hours long at best, most could finish it in one sitting.

Transformers Devastation

Good fun. Cartoon art stays true to your nostalgic memories rather than the Michael Bayism. Combat satisfying. Good to kill a few hours.

Transformers: Devastation (PlayStation 4) Review

There hasn't been much representation of the first generation of the Transformers, which is generally held in the highest regard by the fan base, mostly due to nostalgia and it being the one most adults grew up with in the '80s, as well as having a totally awesome animated movie.

Over the past decade, Platinum Games has made quite a name for itself. With games such as Mad World , the Bayonetta series, and Metal Gear Rising, it's pretty much become the master of the action-game genre. Bayonetta in particular is a standard to which all other action games are measured.
