(PlayStation 4 Review) Transformers: Devastation

★★★★ 3.8
Verdict: Transformers: Devastation does a remarkable job of capturing that Saturday morning magic. The vibrant visuals and spot-on voice acting easily draw the player in, while the upgrades, purchasable skills, and combat system will keep them playing until the end.

Transformers: Devastation

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: I'd have to go back to the PS2 days to find a 'Transformers' game that was as faithful and fun as 'Transformers: Devastation,' and I think 'Devastation' has the edge in both categories.

Review: Transformers: Devastation (Sony Playstation 4)

★★★★★
Verdict: While we've gotten some of the best Transformers games under Activision, we've also gotten some stinkers, and a few that were only okay. Transformers: War For Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron are pretty big games to live up to, and I'll be the first to admit after Platinum's foray into...

Transformers: Devastation review – Bayonetta in?disguise

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: The best Transformers game so far but, more importantly, a hugely entertaining and original action game that is one of the most uniquely entertaining releases of the year.
Pros:
  • The action is well up to Platinum's usual standards, with some great boss battles and missions, that really make the most out of the transformation gimmick
  • Great visuals and presentation
Cons:
  • The melee combat doesn't have quite the variety of Bayonetta et al
  • and the upgrade system for weapons and abilities is convoluted and unsatisfying

"Transformers: Devastation - Robots in Disguise"

★★★★★ 3.0
Verdict: Transformers: Devastation is a third person brawler based on my favourite animated series from the nineteen eighties (in your face Thundercats and G.I Joe!) Back when I was a youngster I was a huge fan of the Transformers cartoon and the toy line it was based off.
Pros:
  • Fun combat
  • Excellent cell-shaded graphics
  • Voice talent from the cartoon
Cons:
  • Short story
  • Only has five playable characters
  • Limited environments

takes me back to my youth,

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: really simple great game with gorgeous graphics and great gameplay, you can button mash your way through it if you wish and love the way the game plays out. it does get a bit "same-y" after a while, but i really enjoyed it.

Transformers: Devastation review

★★★★ 3.5
Verdict: Transformers: Devastation is a nice return to classic Transformers , backed by the quality of Platinum Games' action-brawler gameplay. The Decepticon bashing is topnotch of the Bayonetta -ilk, despite basic level design, and the art style of the cutscenes is uncanny in being faithful to the source...
Pros:
  • + Visual style spot-on
  • + Action gameplay
  • + Combat is much deeper than meets the eye
  • + Ease of transforming into vehicles
Cons:
  • - Bosses are the worst
  • expect rage quits
  • - Limited variety in missions
  • - Short campaign seems to expect replays as every character

Transformers Devastation (PS4)

★★★★ 3.5
Verdict: While Platinum delivers their traditionally excellent gameplay here, the stench of corporate meddling and the common constraints of a licensed game remain and do make themselves known. There are two levels.

I feel like a kid again.

★★★★★ 3.0
Verdict: I live this game. It is the perfect "saturday morning cartoon" game. It plays like an old episode of generation 1 transformers with a way better writing staff and overall budget. It is a fun game and is a pretty cheap by.

Awesome game great for adults too

★★★★★ 5.0
Verdict: I'll make this simple, the game is very good. Not just for kids but young adults or adults. Since they use generation 1 transformer forms, I believe fans of the old tv shows would love it more. Everything from the dialog, scenarios, battles etc are recreated perfectly.

"Fantastic but short"

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: from the makers of Bayonetta, the combat is fast, frantic and a whole lot of fun. Nice cell shaded style graphics. A lack of characters to choose from (only 5 autobots available). I dont know the exact time but it felt about 5–6 hours long at best, most could finish it in one sitting.

Transformers Devastation

Verdict: Good fun. Cartoon art stays true to your nostalgic memories rather than the Michael Bayism. Combat satisfying. Good to kill a few hours.

A Blast from the Past!!

★★★★★ 4.5

Transformers Devastation

★★★★ 3.5
Verdict: This is Bayonetta dressed up in robot clothes, which is a Very Good Thing. Brilliantly playable, and full of Transformers fan-service, only its brevity and simplistic level design let it down.
Pros:
  • Looks and sounds like the 1980s cartoon
  • Superb
  • AAA-feeling combat
  • Grimlock
  • the transforming robot dinosaur
Cons:
  • Disappointingly basic level design
  • Only about 5 hours long
  • Requires little variation in technique to succeed

Transformers: Devastation

★★★★ 3.5
Verdict: When Activision sprung the surprise announcement for Transformers Devastation at my E3 meeting for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, I was beyond elated. It has everything I could possibly ask for in a Transformers game: cel-shaded look of 1980s Transformers, original voice actors, and game development and...
Pros:
  • Beautiful cel-shaded graphics
  • plenty of 1980s whimsy
  • fun combat
  • and the return of the (mostly) original voice acting crew from the beloved cartoon set up for a delightful Transformers game experience
Cons:
  • Repeated boss fights
  • repeated environments
  • lack of combat depth
  • collectibles without that great of a purpose
  • and lack of expected difficulty tear down the game's potential to be that delightful Transformers game experience

Transformers: Devastation PS4 Review

★★★★ 3.5
Verdict: Despite the toy-line having a popular 1980s cartoon as well as further cartoon series', Transformers: Devastation , with its beautiful cel-shaded visuals, is the first Transformers game of the modern day to be clearly based on a cartoon.

Transformers: Devastation (PlayStation 4) Review

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: There hasn't been much representation of the first generation of the Transformers, which is generally held in the highest regard by the fan base, mostly due to nostalgia and it being the one most adults grew up with in the '80s, as well as having a totally awesome animated movie.

Transformers: Devastation

★★★★★ 3.0
Verdict: The massive robots in Platinum Games's Transformers: Devastation feel as light and fluid in action as the spry witch from the developer's Bayonetta franchise. They run gracefully and smoothly as they strike their enemies in rapid succession.

Transformers Devastation (PS4)

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: Over the past decade, Platinum Games has made quite a name for itself. With games such as Mad World , the Bayonetta series, and Metal Gear Rising, it's pretty much become the master of the action-game genre. Bayonetta in particular is a standard to which all other action games are measured.

Transformers Devastation Review

★★★★★
Verdict: Platinum in disguise.
Pros:
  • Fantastic looking
  • Superb signature Platinum combat
  • Full of fan service
Cons:
  • Some scenery glitches
  • Forgettable music
  • Way too short

Transformers: Devastation review

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: Platinum is to be praised for filling such a relatively small container with so many ideas. Nevertheless, for some it may not be quite enough. The story mode can be finished in a few hours and, unless you head back in as a different character, or at one of the other two difficulty levels, you will...

Transformers Devastation Review – Roll Out Old School With The Original Robots In Disguise

★★★★ 4.0
Verdict: The original Transformers defined an entire generation of cartoon and comic book fans nearly 25 years before Michael Bay's ‘vision' for the franchise hit the scene. The G1 Transformers are the definition of super rad giant ninja robots, and now there's a game to shine the spotlight on those 1984...
Pros:
  • Classic cartoon style
  • Frantic and precise combat
  • Interesting loot mechanic
Cons:
  • Disorienting camera control
  • Questionable length
  • Ranged attack controls

★★★★ 4.2
Verdict: Alan dons a disguise for Transformers Devastation, the latest brawler from action specialists Platinum Games.
Pros:

  • Perfectly emulates the 80s cartoon aesthetic
  • Excellent voice cast
Cons:
  • Camera is a bit dodgy
  • Very short

Transformers Devastation (PS4)

★★★★ 3.8
Verdict: The Transformers movies and video games of late seem to have a particularly bad reputation. Michael Bay's ‘splosion fest movies don't quite capture the love and quirkiness of the animated series. The games, at least the few that I've played, weren't the best either.
Pros:
  • Fun | Hand-to-Hand combat is great | Combos are Easy to Master | Killer Soundtrack
Cons:
  • Not Very Long | Not Many Combos | Story is simple
