Great Lens

This is the best wide-angle lens around for cameras with Nikon DX sized sensors. It's got great optical quality, and with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 it's faster than competing wide-angle lenses. It produces very good results with DX body at all apertures, of course a bit better stepped down.

Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX Lens

The Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX Lens review is the first Tokina lens review I've had the pleasure of creating. And it has been a very positive experience. This is a well-built, ultra-wide angle lens that has very good overall image quality and, at review time, has the widest max aperture...

Tokina's 11-16mm f2.8 lens for DX cameras earns a TKO for king of the superwides

What superwides are good for Have you ever been to a car show and tried to take a shot of that really hot car but couldn't back up far enough to fit it all into the frame because of some obstruction or the crowd of people being in the way?

One of the best lenses in this range

Great for low light situations. Brighter image in your viewfinder. More light for your focus sensors. This is one great find in a lens. I'd been reading reviews praising this lens and after shooting with it myself for a few weeks I have to agree, its one of the best lenses in this category, maybe...
Pros:
  • Easy to switch to MF
  • Excellent Contrast
  • Great for low light work
  • Sharp
  • Solidly Built
Cons:
  • none

This lens is a built like a tank. Just picking it up you can tell there is no plastic on this lens. Constant F2.8 is great for low light shooting. with 11-16 you really are about as wide as you are going to get. My copy is razor sharp and produces excellent color and contrast in the images.
Pros:
  • Build quality, Razor tack images, great low light shooter, great color and contrast output
  • Ultra wide which is very nice for landscape, no MF/AF switch
  • Very good price point
Cons:
  • It is heavy
  • If you use Cokin P filters get vignetting from about 11-13
  • need to use ultra slim screw on filters
