Off the Charts

It's funny how different The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker 's notoriously cartoonish style looks now that we've stopped being frustrated with Nintendo's refusal to shift away from their family-friendly image.
Pros:
  • Holy crap
  • this game still looks good
Cons:
  • The Triforce hunt
  • and being fooled into believing that it'd been severely overhauled

A lovingly updated version of a timeless, though flawed, adventure.

It's strange to think how the elegance of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker's bold, thick strokes, endearingly stumpy protagonist, and lusciously saturated palette ever caused so much controversy back in 2003, but even a decade later, the game's legacy remains defined by its visuals.
Pros:
  • The new aesthetic is different but still beautiful
  • An evocative soundtrack
  • Fantastic cast of characters
  • Filled with great moments
  • Puzzle-packed dungeons
Cons:
  • The second half of the game still drags
  • Tingle's quest is irredeemably boring

Nintendo has done a valiant job of breathing new life into what was already an exceptional Legend of Zelda title. It has taken the game's timeless art style and given it a glorious new sheen thanks to HD technology, while also making an extensive amount of worthwhile improvements to previously...

A really beautiful work of art. Many people were wondering how you make cel animation compatible with HD. Well here you go. They also took all the flaws of the original Wind Waker and ACTUALLY addressed them. Superb. My favorite Zelda game in a VERY long time.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

It's a little steep in price but you get a big and beautiful adventure that easily stands up against current-gen AAA titles. A sensitive update that does everything that it should, putting an extra sheen of polish on an already worthy title.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - Review

While we all wait for a proper new Zelda game on Wii U, Nintendo has decided to plug the gap with this spruced-up re-release of 2002's The Wind Waker . Before its release for the GameCube, The Wind Waker was controversial among Nintendo fans for going for a cartoony look, comic tone and childish...
Pros:
  • A gorgeous new edition of an absolute classic action adventure
  • with loads of updates
  • Stunning animation and art style look even better now than they did in 2002
  • Huge world is a delight to explore
  • and feels fresher than some other Zelda games
Cons:
  • It's a bit easy
  • with few truly challenging puzzles
  • If you pay close attention you can spot where some content was cut
  • Players with short attention spans might still not enjoy the sailing

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

Once again the story of Link battling the forces of evil who hope to obtain the Triforce, what Wind Waker lacks in an original setup it makes up for on this new land you're able to explore. Gone are the green fields and high mountains of Hyrule, and in its place is the Great Sea.

[INTRO DU SERPENT] The Legend of Zelda : The Wind Waker

Brilliant fun

This game is great. I've played about 7 hours and it's been nothing but joy. I can't believe how good this game looks and how well it plays. It doesn't look like a remake of a gamecube game, and it doesn't feel like what I expected from a remake of a gamecube game.
Pros:
  • -Visually beautiful -Conceptually beautiful -Excellent music -Pro controller compatible -Timeless
  • fun gameplay
Cons:
  • I don't generally find it particularly easy to keep track of what I'm doing
  • After working, and not being able to play for a couple days, when I came back I had kind of lost context for what I was doing
  • There's nothing like a quest log or anything, from what I can tell.

If you're just getting into the Zelda franchise, start with this one!

The Wind Waker is a very colorful, and fun game! It's the game in the franchise that I'd recommend to players wanting to start this franchise. The artstyle is very colorful, the gameplay can be challenging, and the world is a little bit more open in this one.
