Review: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
Nintendo has a lot to live up to with Wind Waker HD and in many regards an impossible task at hand - to please a diverse fanbase that want different things. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker holds an odd position within the Zelda series.- A wonderful graphic style updated with HD visuals
- Fantastic audio
- Still as fun to play as it was ten years ago
- Faster sailing
- Although you're stuck with slow sailing for quite a while
- Full price RRP is arguably steep
Review: Wind Waker HD is a vivacious voyage into the past
The rushed finale remains a small blemish on an otherwise unforgettable Zelda instalment, updated brilliantly.- A stunning visual upgrade
- Zelda's greatest sandbox
- Smart GamePad integration
- Fetch quests still frustrate
- Some generic dungeons
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Review
As a returning fan, I couldn't have asked for much of a better treatment. holds up as a marvelous game full of unique and wonderful surprises that remind me why it's the best of the 3D Zeldas.- Charming quests
- Memorable story
- Excellent combat
- Looks great
- Crafty enemies
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD review
That's not a fitting fate for this Zelda and certainly not for this Link, with all his vivid urgency. It's why we need excellent re-releases like this. Just like its young hero, The Wind Waker is crisp and energetic, spirited and soulful, just a little bit wayward - and it hasn't aged a day.
cool
love this game played on the gamecube now on the wii u nice console choice
Off the Charts
It's funny how different The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker 's notoriously cartoonish style looks now that we've stopped being frustrated with Nintendo's refusal to shift away from their family-friendly image.- Holy crap
- this game still looks good
- The Triforce hunt
- and being fooled into believing that it'd been severely overhauled
Ocean breathes salty - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD review
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is not the game you remember. You probably remember the fantastic cartoon aesthetic, how full of emotion Link's eyes were, how absolutely blue that ocean was.- Absolutely stunning in HD
- Charm to spare
- Wii U additions help alleviate some of its problems
- Still crippled by pacing issues
- A few graphical hiccups
The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD review – Celda returns
A bad Zelda is still a good game by any other standard but this does frustrating little to improve its standing, beyond making the graphics look even more stunning.- Absolutely gorgeous visuals, updated with obvious love and care
- Equally good soundtrack
- Some great moments, including two classic set pieces that are amongst the best in the series
- The game was always a lesser entry in the franchise and this does almost nothing to improve it
- Very expensive given the lack of changes
- Strange omission of the Tingle Tuner
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Review
The Wind Waker HD soars above most other titles this year in terms of art direction, level design and gameplay, taking the incredible foundations of the original and building upon them to create a extremely refined – and entirely unmatched – experience.- Minor slowdown when a lot of enemies are on screen
