When a game hits the 10-year mark in development, it usually spells disaster. The Last Guardian has been a long time coming, but fans of Team Ico's special brand of fantasy games never gave up hope.

What a year! With the long awaited releases of both Final Fantasy XV and now The Last Guardian it seems that only Half-Life 3 is left in the ‘for-God's-sake-will-you-please-just-release-it-already' category. And after such long waits the first question is always ‘was it worth it?

This game is amazing. A tear-jerker to be sure but it is absolutely breathtaking. It will have you on the edge of your seat. Its beautiful in every aspect from the music to Trico's mannerisms, you will fall in love.

Bought this game for my partner for Christmas so here are his thoughts. He said it's not the best of graphics and there are better games out there and it's not so much a game but an experience. It's about bonding with the creature Trico.

Last guardian is arguably the most ambitious game from the mind of Fumito Ueda and it delivers on every front. I was heavily invested from start to finish and blown away by the games visual art style. Visuals and superb A.I.

Team members leaving the company. Hardware issues. Transitioning the project from Playstation 3 to Sony's Playstation 4 midway through production. Those are just some of the problems that plagued The Last Guardian spiraling it in to a 10 year production process.

Not much to do after you finish

I bought a PS4 just so I could play this and I was glad that I did. The story in this game is easily better than a lot of what Hollywood is producing these days. The animations and graphics superb. The orchestral soundtrack and voice acting superb.

The Last Guardian provided one of the better stories we've had the pleasure of playing this year. Touching on companionship and trust, The Last Guardian's tale is both significant and powerful. That said, with a recommended retail price tag of AUD$99.95, it may not be the ideal game for everyone.

An incredible game, rich scenery and a strong musical score. Not your normal everyday game, very deep and measures emotion versus action. Well worth it for your gamer that needs something more challenging
