The Last Guardian

'The Last Guardian' is filled with bouts of frustration, but it's also proof that gaming is the most powerful medium for creators. I got to experience a genuine bond with Trico over the course of the game, and that can't be replicated elsewhere as it's dependent on actual interaction.

Hopefully not the last from Team Ico

Impressive effort with a few noticeable problems holding it back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth most people's time and cash.

With action-adventure gameplay, a strong bond with a giant animal and an unnamed young boy The Last Guardian has pieces of games you've likely seen before but now combines them together into a single journey. Released for the PlayStation 4 and coming from Team Ico who has an impressive hi...

The Last Guardian review

Dan makes a special new friend in Sony's long-awaited adventure The Last Guardian.

Trico is an astonishingly lifelike creation for a giant mythical birdcat; Wonderfully expressive animations; A heartfelt, emotional ride

Trico can be a stubborn pain in the arse, as can the game's camera; Controls aren't ideal; Very slight story

The Last Guardian (PlayStation 4) Review

Following the cult hit Ico and the industry phenomenon Shadow of the Colossus , Fumito Ueda and Sony announced a third title in the Ico series, The Last Guardian , in 2009. Following years of delays, silence, and a glorious re-reveal once the game's production had shifted from the PlayStation 3 to...

Despite its flaws, The Last Guardian is my favorite game I've played this year. The camera breaks immersion through some great moments and Trico won't always listen but that in no way outweighs the highs of the story and the connection I felt to my new pet.

Trico; Great Story; Impressive Action Set Pieces

Poor Camera; At Times Frustrating

The Last Guardian Review

Following off of the widely acclaimed Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian had a lot of high expectations. Those expectations began growing to

A truly unique experience; Trico is amazing in every way; A touching story; Fun navigational puzzle gameplay

Sluggish and buggy controls/camera; Performance problems

The Last Guardian is proof -- for anyone who doubts it -- that video games can be a unique and emotionally powerful form of participatory storytelling. On top of that, The Last Guardian 's visuals and creature design give it a timeless, mythic quality that both call to mind the sweet-natured Ico and...

PS4 Review: The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian began life on the PS3 and was named as the third game from Ico and Shadow of the Colossus creator Fumito Ueda. But years of no-shows at E3 and issues with hardware meant it had to be moved to PS4, but even then most thought it'd never see the light of day.
