Does The Last Guardian live up to its lineage? Does it do its forebears proud? It does so much more. It is bold enough to step away from their hints and their mysteries and explore its own kind of wonder.

The waiting game is a curious beast. It messes with your head and the longer you wait for something the higher your expectations rise. What sort of expectations do you think arise from a waiting game of nearly ten years?
Trico absolutely lives and breathes; Emotionally taught narrative; Stunning in presentation
Camera and control can be frustrating; Very noticeable clipping and framerate drops; Controlling Trico is epically painful
So, it's finally here. The Last Guardian, which has been in development since 2007 and in the public eye since 2009, is finally gracing our consoles. Honestly, for probably the first time ever. I put the disc into my console without knowing what to expect.
Dan makes a special new friend in Sony's long-awaited adventure The Last Guardian.
Trico is an astonishingly lifelike creation for a giant mythical birdcat; Wonderfully expressive animations; A heartfelt, emotional ride
Trico can be a stubborn pain in the arse, as can the game's camera; Controls aren't ideal; Very slight story

The divide between the highs and lows of is staggering. For every wonderful moment of absolute beauty and emotional attachment to its lifelike companion, there's an equal and opposite baffling moment that ruins the mood with frustrating controls and camera angles.
I loved SotC, and have beaten it 4 times throughout the years, but this game is absolutely infuriating with many moments when you're actually doing the right thing, you feel like you're doing the wrong thing because the bird/dog won't respond, and thereby waste a bunch of unnecessary time.
With such a long and tortured development, the question was never "Can The Last Guardian live up to expectations?"; but rather, "How much does The Last Guardian fail to live up to expectations?". There are moments of beauty in this game, and for that reason alone it's worth playing.
The Last Guardian is an action-adventure game developed by genDESIGN and Japan Studio, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Designed and directed by legendary video game designer Fumito Ueda ( Ico , Shadow of the Colossus ), the game was originally announced way back in 2009 as a PlayStation...
I bought a PS4 just so I could play this and I was glad that I did. The story in this game is easily better than a lot of what Hollywood is producing these days. The animations and graphics superb. The orchestral soundtrack and voice acting superb.
