The Crew review

The Crew's massive world is well worth exploring for any petrolhead, it's just a shame it can't deliver on any of its other promises. The concept of playing as a "crew" is crippled by one major flaw, and that's a lack of people to play with, drawn from a disinterested community.

+ Massive world is impressive in scope; + Fun PvP modes

- Terrible story; bland missions; - Sluggish handling; - Cash-grab microtransactions; - Doesn't look that good; - This is a last-gen game

The Crew review

It's a game that requires and occasionally enforces patience, but like all great road trips it's about the journey, not the destination.

The Crew

Take away its vast environment and The Crew is decidedly mediocre. But the enjoyable story and great sense of actually driving, whether alone or solo, means there's plenty of fun to be had all the same.

Absolutely massive game world; rich with variety and things to do; Always the option to play solo or in co-op; Lovely sensation of being on the open road; especially at night

No offline play, which means you'll get booted for dropouts, America's city streets are practically empty; Where are the pedestrians, GTA 5 does pretty much everything better, plus much, much more

The Crew

The Crew 's greatest achievement is its vast, beautifully rendered condensation of the United States. Dozens of major cities, landmarks, hills, valleys, backroads are all represented, and the game's current-gen horsepower gives us a sense of scale unlike anything we've ever seen.

The Crew Review

Unintentionally, The Crew has one particular trait in common with Ubisoft's other recent title Far Cry 4 : It's better when it's not analyzed in depth. At best, this open-world racer is a road trip fantasy, giving you the freedom to drive smoothly and briskly across its condensed, slightly deformed...

Extremely expansive world; King of the road trip; plenty of landmarks; Ready for co-operative play

Convoluted plot; boring characters; Decent but not fully grounded racing mechanics; Crew Credits; really; Tags

underrated

I play(ed) the game on PC. Don't believe the haters and their negative reviews. The game is loads of fun and reminds me a lot on the old NFS games like Underground and Most Wanted. The map is incredibly huge and the races are rich in variation.

The Crew Review | A Mediocre Masterpiece

The Crew is one of the most infuriating games I've ever played. Not because it's bad, but because it should have been a masterpiece. Make no mistake: The Crew is built on an absolutely astonishing feat of development.

Enormous; varied and amazing playground to explore with friends; Car customisation is a blast; levelling and progression can be compelling; Many impressively epic multiplayer races to partake in

Shockingly awful storyline and characters destroys personality; kills fun and restricts progress; Inconsistently enjoyable and unforgiving events; spongy offroad handling; infuriating UI and AI; Invasive and unwelcome dual currency inflates the economy; Always-online: all the issues of MMOs with...

The Crew Review

The Crew is dull, frustrating and not worth your time or money. That's it. Wait for the £20 price drop if you're jonesing for a next-gen racer. 5/10. Are you still here? God almighty.

The Crew has been quite the ambitious undertaking by a completely new development studio as Ivory Tower has offered some interesting ways to play a racing game. The open-world aspect is one I found myself enjoying more often than not as having an entire nation to drive across was thrilling and quite...
