Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD
Tamron has launched some excellent Super Performance lenses of late, one of our favourites being the SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD. The 70-200mm follows suit, with a truly professional feel.
Pros:
- Excellent performance
- Sheer value for money
- Fast AF and effective image stabilization
Cons:
- Big and heavy (though typical for 70-200mm f/2.8
- Large 77mm filter ring

A Very Solid Competitor to Canon L
I bought this lens to replace the 70-200mm f/4l Canon I had. I am kicking myself for NOT doing it sooner!! Honestly, I should have just saved and bought this first. It is a solid solid lens no joke. The color is amazing, it's razor sharp, killer in low light, and just does what it's supposed to.
Pros:
- Razor Sharp
- Superb Color
- Has VC
- Affordable
- and a 6yr Warranty too
Cons:
- Not a single one

Beautiful Glass
This is by far the best piece of glass I have owned. Very smooth and tack sharp, well worth the money spent.

The only thing consistent about the AF is its inconsistency
Im sure I got a bad lens (four, actually!), because theres no way the Tamron flagship lens duo (the 24-70mm and 70-200mm G2) were meant to perform this way, but alas and Im not the only person whos suffered the wrath of poor quality control The 24-70mm G2 (and its big brother, the 70-200mm G2) have...

Technology is catching up with the big performers. Apple is no longer better than Android, Nikon is no longer the big fish in the sea, Tamron has stepped up their game with this lens, in an attempt to turn heads from Nikon 70-200, and it is turning heads, and for good reasons.

I have choosen the Tamron 70-200/2.8 VC because at my workplace we use the same and I was impressed by its performance and durability. We use it as workhorse and its still working- but the zoom rings rubber got expanded so its not wheater sealed for now and not very sexy.
Pros:
- Pretty fast and accurate AF
- good built quality
- very nice iq
- damn good stabilization
- not that pricey
Cons:
- Built quality not as good as Canon 70-200/2.8 also the AF slower (not significantly)
- zoom ring and mf ring reversed
- hard to use with reversed hood
