Incredible

Don't let such a little box fool you. It is PACKED with capability and performance. The outstanding feature is the software. One can do time machine backups to it, host a website, use it as a near line storage repository, and much much much more. And.. given all that, it's not that expensive.

I needed a NAS primarily for file storage and to act as a VPN server for our small business. The Synology DSM software is easy to use and feature-rich. There are many Synology and third-party apps you can load on this NAS. It even runs Docker which opens up a world of additional opportunities.

I had an old Iomega NAS that needed replacing. After doing a bit of research I decided on this Synology NAS and haven't been disappointed. It's surpassed my expectations. It's great as a media server file store, home backup, home cloud server, sync server between Google Drive and the NAS (other...

Synology DiskStation DS718+ 2-Bay NAS Server, Quad Core Celeron 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM, 3x USB3.0, 1x eSATA, 2x GbE, 3 Years Warranty

Such a compact, good looking product! I got this so that I can setup my Plex server & home surveillance on it. Setting up Plex was a breeze , but setting up Synology community packages took basically whole of my Sunday.

The Synology DS718+ is a high-end 2-bay NAS with good performance, silent operation, and low power consumption. Its strong advantage is that its storage capacity can easily be expanded with five additional drives (seven in total) since it is compatible with the optional DX513 expansion unit.

Synology NAS mega-review: DS418play, DS718+, and DS1517+

Storage space is getting cheaper, whether you're talking about phones or computers. It used to cost astronomical amounts of money to get even 1GB of storage. As storage has become cheaper, files sizes are increasing. A photo taken with the Pixel 2 might be nearly 10MB, and that adds up over time.

Amazing all around NAS solution!

Amazing little unit. Have 2 x Ironwolf 8TB NAS HDs installed. Back-up is easy. Direct file transfers are fast(what I use most of the time) The external network hard drive I had before was too slow to steam 1080 media.
