The much anticipated, long awaited launch of the DiskStation DS1817+ from Synology has finally happened. The upgrade to Synology's 5 and 8-bay DiskStation, which was first launched back in 2011, the DS1817+ is another 8-bay NAS system, but it's much more comprehensive than previous models.

I admit, I am a Synology fan boy. It's hard not to be. These devices are superb and do everything I want them to do without complaint.I'm still running my 2 old 5 bays after almost 6 years with no issue. Would definitely recommend.

I purchased the Synology DS1817+ to replace my 5 year old Synology DS1512+ NAS, I have been using Synology products for 10 years and always look forward to the innovative improvements to their DSM; The cloud applications are integral to my work and I used them daily.

The replaced my unraid nas, which has blown two motherboards this year. With the loss of crashplan home, i need something quickly. The DS1817+ just works, is already doing more that it was purchased for.
