The DS1618+ is a NAS aimed to fill the 6-bay gap in Synology's portfolio. Build quality is certainly up to par for a DS+ platform as it follows the same enclosure design we have seen in the past along with being user friendly for memory upgrades.

Good so far...

Hard to write a review for a NAS since theres not much exciting or unique until a disk fails or a file gets corrupted. However - If youre thinking about this, there are a couple reasons to go with this station, and Synology. First, their simple management options are in fact simple.

What I didn't realize was that Synology was going to express a replacement for my failed diskstation, even though the warranty was...

Synology DiskStation DS1618+

The DS1618+ happily outperformed our expectations considering the relatively affordable price, and is a great option for those who need its mix of high performance and flexibility.

High-performance hardware; PCIe slot upgrades; Virtual machine support

Upgrades cost extra; Stiff competition from similar models; Slightly noisy
