Sword of the Stars: The Pit: Mindgames (PC) Review

I'm not sure what it is about roguelikes that seizes my brain, but it is undeniable. I've logged more hours than I care to admit on nethack, Binding of Isaac, and Dungeons of Dredmor.

MUCH BETTER THAN ORIGINAL VERSION

MUCH BETTER THAN ORIGINAL VERSION. AI IS UNREAL WITH NO LIMITATIONS. TECH TREE ALLOWS MORE CUSTOMIZED SHIP DESIGNS PLUS RACE SPECIFIC TECHS. THIS IS 100% INPROVEMENT. I HAVE TO FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL FOR EVERYTHING.

The developers at Kerberos Productions bring us Sword of the Stars: The Pit, and it's expansion ‘Mindgames' - an action roguelike with a neat sci-fi flair. Putting my experience into words, after play SotS is like trying to continue walking, after being pounded into the ground, tossed around a bit,...

Sword of the Stars: The Pit

In space, no one can hear you scream. In your living room, however, your neighbours probably can, so don't..

A lot of fun to play either alone or multiplayer although multiplayer can be quite slow. Simple game play, not a lot of "wow" factor to be found, but solid. Each expansion added meaningful improvements to game play.

Review – Sword of the Stars

Technically, according to game lore, they have an inertialess *drive*, not inertialess ships. How? They use so-called "stutterwarp" (or "flickerwarp" for later in the tech tree) where they teleport a tiny, tiny distance, but do so many, many times per second.
