Fantastic!

My 7 year old was asking for this game in the summer holidays, I got it for him on a pocket money basis, I hoped it would help us get through the holidays, I never realised that I would be so addicted to it, every time he plays I have to have a turn or 10!

Splatoon review

Nintendo does a nice job of painting outside the lines with its own third-person shooter, but then muddles the final product with meager content, frustrating online design, and an unremarkable single-player offering. In some ways, Splatoon seems like it would be an ideal free-to-play game – especially with the rotating map selection and limited, straightforward matches – or perhaps a low-cost, multiplayer-only digital game. But by positioning it as a full boxed game instead (albeit a comparatively affordable one, at £29 from Amazon), Nintendo has made Splatoon's frustrations sting a little more than they otherwise might.

Fast-paced fun; Colourful aesthetic; Squid navigation;

Limited content; Irritating menus; So-so solo mode;

Splatoon

Splatoon should be the Wii U's best game. It's one of the most inventive, joyful, and vibrant shooters in years, bursting with energy a...

One of the most refreshing takes on the shooter in years; Its all (in Splatoon's own words) 'totes adorbs

There's just not enough game here; Discards genre convention with varying degrees of success; Gating content behind amiibo is gross

Splatoon

A whole new way to play online shooters- instead of shooting people, shoot the ground! You can't miss!

Nintendo knows fun. This is evident in their latest venture into the online multiplayer-focused, Splatoon. For a long time many have criticised Nintendo for not bringing new IP's to the table. Luckily the wait has turned out to be not only worthwhile but an entirely unique experience as well.

Unique | Solid and addictive gameplay

NO VOICE CHAT | Atrocious lobby system

Splatoon Review: Scattered Paint

In 2002's Super Mario Sunshine, Nintendo gave players the mission of saving an island from a messy catastrophe. Now a new Nintendo game releases with a mission that will send shivers down Mario's spine: to make the biggest, inkiest mess you can possibly make.

Splatoon Review – Painting the Competitive Shooting Genre a Whole New Color (or Two)

Splatoon is elegant. We're talking ballroom elegant. I suggest you take her by the hand and spin her around a couple times. Splatoon also marks the first time Nintendo has dared enter the competitive online shooter genre.

The ink is mightier than the bullet.

It's no longer strange to see the concept of genres challenged by unusual games, but Splatoon is a special case. It's a lighthearted, sugar-coated game that's landed on the back of today's dark and gritty shooters ( Battlefield , Call of Duty , Wolfenstein , and Titanfall come to mind).

Proves shooters don't have to be violent to be engaging; Employs one of the most unique movement mechanics around; It makes you look at your environment and opponents in new ways; The colorful atmosphere lifts you up rather than weighing you down

The single player campaign loses steam too quickly; A lack of control over multiplayer matches does more harm than good; Some content is locked behind amiibos; forcing eager Inklings to spend real world money

Splatoon: review

A certain corner of the internet criticises Nintendo relentlessly. This dark and smelly corner is full of people who for some reason believe that Nintendo keeps rehashing the same ideas, and shout about it while putting their pre-orders in for Black Ops 3 and FIFA 16.
