Spec Ops: The Line PC Review

Spec Ops: The Line is one of those games that was brilliant in concept and in some ways masterfully executed, but a key element is missing that makes it only a bit better than average.

Spec Ops: The Line

Spec Ops: The Line is unabashed in its Heart of Darkness influences. Joseph Conrad's classic journey upriver through the Congo, and later Vietnam and Cambodia in Apocalypse Now , replaced with the golden sand dunes of a desolate Dubai.

is one of those games that was brilliant in concept and in some ways masterfully executed, but a key element is missing that makes it only a bit better than average. Unfortunately, the part that's missing is fun shooting, which is kind of important in a game where you're holding a gun nearly the...

Spec Ops: The Line [Review] – Heart of gold, gameplay of darknes

A well executed game lacking much in the way of original gameplay. Play it for the story, grind it for the interaction.

Spec Ops: The Line: Review

Spec Ops: The Line is a difficult game to judge. In many ways it is a remarkable examination of the military shooter genre and yet in other ways it panders to the same conventions it attempts to scrutinise.

Where will you draw the line?

Spec Ops: The Line is a third-person shooter video game developed by Yager Development and published by 2K Games. The player controls Captain Martin Walker, who is accompanied by two other Delta Force team members to rescue a U.S.

Gripping story; Unique environment; Story affects characters

Cover system; Slow response; Boring multiplayer

Spec Ops: The Line review

Spec Ops: The Line displays great ambition, and can be considered an admirable effort to push the shooter into new thematic spaces, but it falls short of achieving its full promise by some concessions to genre tropes. The drama and the action are too often at odds.

Visually splendid; Hefty combat; Great sound.

Recycled enemy models; Long load times; Manufactured drama.

Spec Ops: The Line Review

(continued from previous page) .../> There is a lot Spec Ops: The Line gets right. It's got a compelling narrative, well-thought environments and levels, and great voice acting. The gameplay department is a little more of a mixed bag.

Terrific narrative; Excellent level design; Solid ally and enemy A.I

Mediocre controls; Cover system is hit or miss; Graphics feel a bit dated

An immense sandstorm rocked the gorgeous Middle Eastern city of Dubai. The event was so catastrophic that members of a battalion, the "Damned 33rd," on their home from Afghanistan decided to aid in relief efforts. Unfortunately, to no avail...

Spec Ops: The Line (X360) - Review

If we were to base our impression of war solely on video games, it wouldn't seem like that bad of a place to be. Despite video games' attempts to mimic the dramatic sensibilities of film, the depiction of war in games rarely goes beyond the trivialization to which we have grown accustomed.
