Xperia XZ Premium Review: Insane 4K Display Can't Save This Sony
Sony's televisions and game consoles are incredibly popular, but its smartphones? Not so much. So the company went back to the drawing board with this year's model. The result, the $800 Xperia XZ Premium, combines the best of Sony's Bravia TVs and its PlayStation console.- Gorgeous 4K HDR display
- Bright screen shows off lots of colors accurately
- Solid front- and rear-facing cameras
- Powerful performance
- 4K content is limited at this stage
- No fingerprint sensor
- So-so battery life
- compared to other flagships
- Super-slow-motion feature feels like a novelty
The Xperia XZ Premium is available both through carriers (Optus, Vodafone, Virgin) and retailer JB Hi-Fi at an RRP of $1099. It's also available at a discounted price of $1056 through
It's an excellent phone!
Superb phone! Sony camera are the best of its kind. Thinking to purchase one, but searching for lowest price. Searchin it for the lowest price. I got here, the phone is in my hand, feeling awesome. It's the wowsome phone!
Sony Xperia XZ Premium Review
Sony's top Android smartphone offering has all the bells and whistles to make it a viable contender against other top dogs. While Samsung and LG have opted to go with an all-screen phone, Sony is still taking the simple path.- Excellent performance
- Great camera
- Good multimedia features
Sony's Xperia XZ Premium is unworthy of its name
What defines a premium product? To my mind, it's the added benefit or advantage of something that you wouldn't be able to obtain at a lower price. An example might be the $4,000 Focal Utopia headphones with beryllium drivers, whose sound is hard to rival and unobtainable without that extremely rigid...- Bright
- pixel-dense display
- Snappy performance
- Good battery life
- Underwhelming camera
- Unergonomic design
- Display bezels are huge by 2017 standards
Sony Xperia XZ Premium Smartphone
Last year's flagship, the Xperia XZ , was a pretty premium device itself and it launched a new design language for the Sony phone range.- Powerful performance
- 4K HDR screen
- Attractive design
- Great Build quality
- Super-slo-mo is fun
- Camera missing a few features
A few months back, Sony showcased the Xperia XZs which tackles the current flagships with its renowned camera. This year, Sony's latest smartphone Xperia XZ Premium is loaded with features even more than the Xperia XZs.
Love this phone. Everything works smoothly. Interface for Spotify is awesome. Battery life is fantastic. I feel that I'm a pretty heavy user (music for most of the day, Youtube, Netflix, and occasional games)and my battery lasts well over 24 hours, and this is without using stamina mode!
Things get tricky when you start reviewing a flagship smartphone. Testing the limits of cutting edge technology is not as easy as it may seem, and when you're creating that offbeat technology, all of that difficulty multiplies a hundred times.
- Eye catching form factor
- Excellent Performance
- Vibrant 4K HDR Display
- Smooth User interface
- Good battery life
- Fantastic slow motion video
- Shiny surface may attain unneeded attention
- Terrible low light camera performance
- Requires minute software improvements
- Oversaturated display
- No infrared Blaster
The Sony Xperia XZ Premium goes all in with features that the company dabbled in with recent offerings, making it a worthy consideration for anyone that is willing to overlook the lack of a fingerprint reader and basically non-existent carrier availability in the States.
- Sleek design Powerful 4K display Top-notch performance Great audio experience Lightweight software is snappy and smooth Powerful Auto camera Dedicated camera button
- Design is all too familiar No fingerprint reader in western units Software ROM cripples Android Pay Battery life average overall
