Must have for your Sony DSLR

Amazed at how well this just performed out west in the wind and still managed to pick up great audio. I recommend it to everyone with a sony dslr.

Limitations outweigh convenience

With a few tweaks this could be 4 or 5 stars. The shock mount is clearly designed for the included mic, and won't easily accommodate mics 19mm in diameter (think MKH8000 series or the classic MKH416). You'll need to build up such mics with tape or something.

Draws power from camera battery; synced audio; relatively compact form factor, nice control layout

Limited to camera's audio format, often 16-bit; no choice but to buy it with the budget mic; shock mount doesn't easily take 19mm diameter mics; no mount for second mic despite 2 mic inputs
