It’s no secret that when it comes to smartphones, Sony has had more than a few issues. However, that hasn’t stopped the Japanese tech giant from upping the ante in other categories.

The WH-XB900N are a decent pair of wireless headphones, with an impressive feature set and great battery life. But they are significantly less appealing than Sony's premium model, and are also outflanked by other competitors at or around their price point. Yes.

If you're a connoisseur of noise-canceling headphones, you probably know all about Sony's WH-1000XM3. It's the "Bose killer": a $350 noise-canceling headphone that earned a CNET Editors' Choice in 2018. However, not everybody wants to pay that much for a headphone. And that's where the new Sony WH-XB900N comes in. An upgrade over the older and cheaper MDR-XB950N1, it has a similar design to the WH-1000XM3 but doesn't have quite the premium feel of that model. Also, for better -- or worse, depending on your audio tastes -- it's heavy on the bass, as its Extra Bass name implies.

Sony's Extra Bass WH-XB900N noise canceling Bluetooth headphones sound great, are low-latency, and do a good job at blocking out unwanted sound.

Bass is a tad boomy; Pricey

After having the headphones for two weeks I have found them to have a wonderful depth of sound to include fantastic clarity/bass and great features. I have found they are very comfortable on the ear, even after several hours use they haven't made my ears sore like other headphones can do.

These are the most comfortable over ear sound cancelling headphones I've ever had. The ear cups are generously sized for my ears and the soft leatherette padding is what you would expect for a premium priced set.

Best pair of headphones I've ever had, I recommend getting them.
