Sony has improved upon the original WF-1000X in just about every way, although they're not cheap, the WF-1000XM3 is the new benchmark for true wireless earbuds.
I've been using Sony's latest wireless earbuds, the ‘WF-1000XM3s', for more than a month and they're fantastic.
Sounds exquisite; Noise-cancelling on small form-factor; Ambient sound option to hear cars
Uncomfortable; Oddly designed; Expensive
After 2 years since WF-1000X, the first active noise cancelling true wireless earphones launched, Sony has finally delivered the next generation model. With WF-1000XM3, Sony has upped the ante for true wireless audio market. With all the tech infused in the compact earbuds, the WF-1000XM3…
Excellent Active Noise Cancelling Engine; Supports Ambient Sound; Companion app that personalises EQ and audio engine; Auto pause when earbuds are removed; Quick Attention when holding the left sensor; Competitive price given the number of available features
Bulky case and earbuds; Relatively shorter battery life compared to competition (but above average compared to true-wireless market in general; Does not support hi-res codecs like LDAC (which WH-1000XM3 headphones do
I am a gym rat (HIIT, Indoor Cycling, and CrossFit) and am always hesitant when exploring new options due to fit which is very important to me. Additionally, I have always appreciated the noise-canceling feature as I travel via plane a lot. I definitely found both great features in Sony True!
A new benchmark for true wireless earbuds, the WF-1000XM3s combine effective active noise-cancelling with a real sense of musicality
Musical sound; Good noise-cancelling; Excellent battery life; Snug fit
No aptX HD support
Despite some small drawbacks, the Sony WF-1000XM3 is among the best true wireless headphones of 2019.
The WF-1000XM3 sound excellent for true-wireless headphones, with a premium look and feel; They have effective active noise cancellation, decent battery life and USB-C charging (with a quick-charge feature); Touch controls.
Not sweat-resistant; not as discreet looking as some competing models; call performance could be a little better.
Decent all-around performance, but doesn't live up to the price tag
Relatively comfortable; decent noise cacnellation
Sound quality doesn't live up to expectations
With the WF-1000X, Sony was already playing at the top of the True Wireless league over two years ago. Now the manufacturer is sending a fresh player out onto the highly competitive playing field with this new second version.
Both models deliver solid performance for the price. And both earphones will significantly quiet down your commute. But for best sound quality and most versatility with respect to musical genre, go for the Sony WF-1000XM3. For longest battery life, opt for the Kilpsch T5 True Wireless.
Competition is surely tough in the noise-cancelling in-ear headsets jungle with fierce predators such as the Sennheiser and Apple in the same territory. When we were handed with Sony’s WF 1000XM3, it was like love at first sight with its sexy look and design.
