This is a very good choice for beginners like me. Great for any sort of sceneries.

Excellent for a novice.

This tripod feels very sturdy yet its legs are not as bulky as some. When collapsed, it is very small. Many of the parts are metal, but the parts that are plastic are high quality plastic. The top swivels smoothly without any jerking motions.

Sony VCTR100.AE Sony R100 Tripod

Great little tripod, smaller than most tripods but the plus side is it folds down much small than most tripods, also very stable.

SONY VCT-R640 Tripod

I bought this tripod along with my Sony TRV-270E Handycam Camcorder about a year ago and I have found it very useful. The tripod is alot more stable than other tripods I have used. It is a lightweight, robust and easy to use piece of equipment, with great extending legs and easy height adjustment.

Ease of use; extendability; durability; robust

Could be made easier to carry

Great value tripod

I've had this tripod for a few years. For what I've paid for, I think I got a great product. The tripod is lightweight and sturdy enough for occasional uses with the big video cameras (e.g. HDR-FX7). I use this with my tiny Cybershot cameras, so this product in lots of ways is overkill.

Great value; lightweight

Plastic parts break too easily if not careful

Lightweight, fluid, and does the job

I purchased this tripod for travel, as I was looking for a lightweight, compact tripod for my prosumer video camera. I have two Gitzo tripods for my photography, but hardly need their weight to handle an 18 oz camcorder.

Perfect for my wife. Exactly what I wanted. Not tall enough, for me though.

Great Start

Really great value for money. Quick release is simple and works. Not the highest spec but it does the job, there is a rotating handle to raise and lower the camera which can be annoying although it does work.

"Much steadier than my hand...."

If you are serious about photography or filming, at some time you will need a tripod. Some situations such as landscape or self-timer photography benefit from the use of a tripod. A good one will let you place the camera parallel to the ground and will pan and tilt to whatever angles you need.

Very steady; will move to any position

Complicated at first

Sony VCT R640: Steadfast, loyal and true!!

A top quality, low price piece of equipment!

Reasonably priced; portable but very sturdy

could do with reaching just a few more inches at full height
