... when the bass boost is off these headphones have nice punchy base

Even when the bass boost is off these headphones have nice punchy base, you turn the boost on and its something quite special.... don't buy these if you don't like bass.... or if you don't like beats, they remind me of my old Beats over ears

Best sound for the money

Sony MDR-XB950 BTW headphones, these are great, excellent sound reproduction clear low bass with crisp highs and accurate mid-range. A great buy for the money. Really comfortable ear cushions and I'm picky I grew up in a Hi-Fight store my father owned when I grew up.

Awesome sounds, great bass pure mid-range with crisp highs; Comfortable soft leather ear cushions; Affordable price.Sony nailed it

Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headset Review

Back in the 1990s, I'd sit in parking lots watching car modders tweak their stereos in a quest for the most outrageous and bowel-churning bass. Listening to music on the Sony MDR-XB950BT transported me straight back to those sunbaked days.

Supple ear cups; Excellent detail; Easy-to-reach controls; Bass Boost makes hip-hop and techno a pleasure

Bass Boost distorts nearly all other genres of music; Uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time; Mic picks up outside noise more than wearer's voice; Pretty ugly

Sony MDR-XB950BT Bluetooth Extra Bass Headphone - Black (International Version)

Pros: Bass heads would love the bass on it, very long bluetooth life around 15-20 hours and 50ft range Cons: The headphones are very bulky, making it hard to wear on your neck. If worn for lets say an hour without being taken off a plethora of sweat would have accumulated around your ears.

A bass head will like the bass; Bluetooth range and life

Bulky; Poor durablity; Sweat accumulates around ears; Bass boost overpowering; dirty bass; can not use bass boost when wired; Lots of leakage

Great bass but cheap plastic

I bought this used and I liked of how it look and when I first listen it had a great bass and the only thing that I did not like was of how it can break easily am being very careful of not breaking this.

If you're an audiophile who wants the purest and clearest reproduction of the source being played, then it's likely that you're not interested in Sony's XB (extra bass) headphones. We tried out the Sony MDR XB950BT - the top of the XB line, which also supports Bluetooth playback.

Bass heavy; but not muddy; Excellent battery life; Reasonably durable build

Bass boost drowns out other frequencies; The headphones look cheap and plasticky
