Sony MDR-NC500D

These headphones use digital noise cancelling to cut surrounding noise by up to 99 per cent, and artificial intelligence to work-out 'the best noise profile for your situation'.

Reasonable detailing; good depth and weight; comfortable fit

Harsh sibilant treble; pudgy bass

Amazing headphones

After doing a lot of research on different headphones, I settled on these. THEY'RE AMAZING!!! I've been looking for a pair of good sound isolation headphones for over a year. I've owned the Beats Studios and I find that they're very bass heavy.

The Sony MDR-NC500D headphones are smaller than the average over-ear, decked out in faux-leather padding, and made of a glossy black plastic. As over-ears these headphones aren't exactly inconspicuous, but at least they look sharp.

Exceeded my expectations

Bought these at the airport before a trip to Europe about 3 years ago and have used them many times, on several trips, and at home and the library.

Great sound; Long Battery Life; Quiet

Maybe the case is a little big but it has a lot of stuff

Oustanding for ham radio

I travel extensively and purchased these to use while on planes. The previous noise cancelling headphones that I had, Sony NC60 were terrible for ham radio use. The NC500C is simply amazing to use for ham radio.

These industry-first digital noise canceling headphones from Sony promise to cut surrounding noise by up to 99%. They use nifty artificial intelligence to determine the best noise profile for your surroundings to deliver quality sound with almost no background noise.

Sony MDR-NC500D

The Sony MDR-NC500D headphones are suitable for music listening or movie watching, and they pack in some high quality noise-cancelling technology which makes them great for commuting or long-haul plane trips. Sound quality is good and the headphones are well constructed, but they are expensive.

Stylish and scratch-resistant exterior; comfortable padding; battery pack for extended use; good sound quality; noise cancelling works exceptionally well

Tight fit may annoy some; must be powered to work

Sony MDR-NC500D Digital Noise Cancelling Headphones Review

Do you find that as soon as you get on a bus, train or plane that you have to turn the volume up on your MP3 player because the surrounding noise is too loud? Maybe you can not ever get a long enough sleep on the train because you have that person making plans with there friends sitting next to you.

Sony MDR NC500D: Brilliant headphones, just not worth the price

Well, Sony have created what have been branded as the best noise- canceling headphones ever made. I jumped at the opportunity to buy them. Then my problem arose, £300. I believe that the cut- off point for an personal audio device's price is where it overtakes the price of your iPod.
