Sony HDR-CX12 is the best Sony camcorder among the recent models

★★★★★ 5.0
Verdict: I have tried many camcorders before choosing this one. The main advantage of HDR-CX12 is large 35mm Carl Zeiss? Vario-Sonnar? lens, that provides higher that average camcorders video performance.

Sony HDR-CX12 HD review

★★★★ 3.5
Verdict: Recording to a SDHC memory card, the Sony HDR-CX12 HD sports a 1/3-inch imaging sensor - a rather large size for a consumer HD camcorder - and HDMI output. It records AVCHD video at a data rate of 16Mbit per second, which is good, but not at the top of the heap.

Sony Handycam HDR-CX12

★★★★ 4.2
Verdict: Although you pay a premium for the convenience of solid-state recording, Sony's HDR-CX12 Handycam is a good choice for point-and-press video shooters who also like to take the occasional still shot. If you're happy to use the Easy mode, the CX12 could be for you.

Sony HDR-CX12 HD

Verdict: In August, Sony will debut the HDR-CX12 camcorder. It's a Handycam format camcorder, that records to Sony's memory stick technology in 1920×1080 HD video, and also takes a pretty astounding 10 megapixel still photo.

Sony HDR-CX12

★★★★ 4.2
Verdict: The HDR-CX12 is a brilliant high-def handycam that is almost impossible to find fault with. It improves on its CX7K predecessor in nearly every area and is easily a match for Sony's high-end HDR-SR12 model. If you don't mind the lack of an inbuilt hard drive, it won't disappoint.
Pros: Excellent AVCHD video quality, good performance in dim lighting, 10.1Mp stills mode, Smile Shutter technology, camera control dial for 'hands on' adjustments
Cons: No inbuilt memory, not as compact as other flash memory–based models, inclusion of superfluous buttons
