Performance-wise it’s a very good all-rounder and is the cheapest Sony lens available for the company’s full frame cameras.

The compact size, light weight, great general-purpose focal length range, and very low price are strong advantages of the Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens. Pulling this lens down to the middle of the FE lens popularity ranks is the low-end image quality. In that regard, you get what you pay for.

not bad for a kit lens
this ens is awesome you can even take some good astrophotography with for a kit lens is perfect totally recommended

Great overall lens
A Great choice when you don't want to lug around a bunch of lenses... Very light weight, good image quality, does need adequate lighting when zoomed in. This is a good inexpensive carry around lens for when your not packing all your primes/telephoto/Wide angle lenses.

Exquisite, dependable ace lens.
The lens was of great value, specifications that were perfect for my day-to-day use as I'm a beginner at photography. I specifically spend my time doing vlogs and focusing on my latte art.

Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS SEL2870
I am not sure whether to blame the lens or the very short flange distance on the FF Sony cameras for the poor performance that this lens shows away from the image center. I tried two copies with the Sony A7 II and they were both similarly poor.
Cons:
- Very soft away from the image center

Pretty good for kit - full frame!
I really have to say, I'm enjoying this lens - I have other more expensive sony fe lenses and while they are good, I can't say they all outshine this one for everyday use. On the a7ii it's great - colours are spot on, and even in low light it's pretty good!

Excellent value and performance.
Surprisingly like the 24-70mm it is "Dust and moisture-resistant design". Nice touch for a value lens. The lens barely extends at all during its full zoom sweep. Not internal zoom technically, but as close as you could get. Small and light. Silent focus.
