Sony EF Sonnar T 55mm F1.8 ZA

Super sharp 55mm

There are some fabulous Sony lenses - and the the Sony 55mm and 35mm prime lenses are two of the best in terms of outright sharpness. Make no doubt about it, when coupled with the auto focus on the Sony A7 series cameras, this 55mm makes bitingly sharp images with strong contrast.

Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 55mm F1.8 ZA Review

The Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 55mm F1.8 ZA captures sharp, lovely images, but it's not a budget lens. The Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* FE 55mm F1.8 ZA ($999.99 direct) is the first standard-angle prime lens for Sony's full-fame mirrorless camera system. Its maximum f/1.8 aperture isn't as sexy as the more standard f/1.4, but it makes up for slightly less light gathering capability with incredible sharpness and a compact design. The only minor quibble is a lack of optical stabilization, but most prime lenses in the 50mm range aren't stabilized. It's a great lens, with no distortion, but its asking price is a bit higher than comparable lenses for full-frame SLR systems. The Sonnar measures 2.8 by 2.5 inches (HD) and weighs about 11.2 ounces. Good

Great lens!

Amazingly clear, great bokeh!!!

This was my first Zeiss lens and I was hesitant to spend the money. The sel50f18 takes some great pics.I'm glad I took the plunge! I like this lens so much I bought the sel24f18z the next day.

Wow! Super Sharp!

"I purchased this lens along with the A7ii and what a combo! the sharpness, colors, and performance is amazing! This lens is worth every penny, and even better on sale for $799.99!!!"

Sharp, Sharp, Sharp

This is the sharpest and the best quality 55 mm lens money can buy. You will never regret buying it. Light, fast and durable.

Sharp. Really sharp

This lens makes me want to be a better photographer... and hopefully it'll help me become one!

Killer lens but can't justify it for the price.

Killer lens but can't justify it for the price. So many other options out there that deliver 90% of this lens for half the price

One of my best lenses for portraits

I love this lens and had to pay it forward with a review. This lens is great in low light on my a7iii, super crisp vivid photos. I recommend this lens because it has great bokeh and can be your primary lens if you had to just pick one. Hope this helps. - cheers
