Best for "always on". Wont miss a shot because of having to change the lens first without compromising image quality.
Very sharp; incredible quality for zoom range equaling 24-160 on 35mm
Not too fast; F 3.5 at 16mm only

A brilliant lens for Sony DSLR users.
Great image quality and a build quality you can rely on
None for me although it will seem expensive to some
As most Dooyoo and Ciao members and followers of my reviews will know much of the cameras and lenses I review are ones I have tested for my camera club or been invited to test by manufacturers, this review however is on a lens that I own personally and use as part of my professional kit.

I thought the autofocus would work with my A7Rii camera with adaptor but I was wrong, I was reimbursed very quickly by them thanks.
A few years ago a couple of Sony's engineers from their Japan camera division came and spent the day at our test lab to see how we test cameras and lenses. It was at a time when Sony's DSLR market was still in its infancy, having only the Alpha 100 and 900 in its DSLR lineup and a few refurbished...
This lens is a good for just about any situation. I used to use the 18-250mm as my walk around lens but since getting this one I've found that for most situations I like this one more. Having the 16mm option is sometimes just enough to keep me from having to reach into my bag for my UWA.

Slow (f/3.5-5.6
The build quality is fairly similar to the Zeiss ZA 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 DT (shown to the right in the product image gallery below) - it's decent but nothing to rave about either. The outer shell is made of good quality plastics. The broad, rubberized zoom ring operates smooth but also a little stiff.
Loved the zoom range and price but ultimately returned it for the CZ 16-80 despite the higher cost. Chromatic aberration was the deal breaker for me.
Consistent Output; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Sharpness; Zoom rangeperformance
Chromatic aberration
Advertised as f/3.5 - 5.6. At 16 mm focal length, the maximum aperture is f/3.5. However, at 24 mm focal length, it jumps to f/4.5, and at 35 mm focal length, it jumps to f/5, which is disappointingly "slow", This information is not available in the "specifications".
