Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 II
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 II compact camera offers a few worthwhile upgrades when compared with the original RX100, but comes in at a higher asking price.

Almost DSLR photos in a pocket size
I was suspicious that I wouldn't like the quality of the photos on a camera small enough to fit in your pocket, but I bought it on a try-out basis and thought if I wasn't impressed with the photos I could always return it in 15 days. I have not returned the camera. It is fantastic.

DSLR quality images in a compact camera.
Shooting in manual mode in RAW, this camera is better than some DSLRs on the market. Great for travelling light, as it fits in your pocket. Images are awesome even at high ISO. In auto shooting mode the auto focus is less than average, and this is the only thing I can fault this camera on.
Pros:
- Compact
- Screen size

Amazing Camera!
"Truly a great camera. It's like having a dslr in your pocket! The low light performance is excellent and focus is fast and accurate, video is very good and overall is a great well rounded camera. Highly recommended."

Sony DSC RX-100 has a large sensor that aids in providing good image quality. The larger sensor simply means that, as compared to small sensor cameras, it will be exposed to more light during any exposure with the same settings (ISO, shutter speed, and F-number).
Pros:
- Small size
- Large sensor
- High ISO range
- 8 face recognition
- BIONZ image processor
Cons:
- No Wi-Fi
- which is becoming common in other cameras in this class

The Sony RX100 is a very impressive camera that is capable of producing some great-looking shots with lots of detail and a good colour spread. If you're looking for a decent mid-entry compact digital camera, the Sony RX100 offers enough features to make it worth your while.
Pros:
- As compact as the Sony RX100 is, it still feels very sturdy, not that we'd expect any less from Sony
- The design is smooth, weighty and pleasing enough to want to be seen carrying one around
- There's a bit of a retro, yet modern charm about it.
Cons:
- There are few real complaints to be had here
- but it's a shame the LCD viewfinder isn't touchscreen
- and the RX100 could be quicker to fix its autofocus on subjects - something bound to irk the more practiced photographers.

Excellent camera; see review for solution to slippery surface!
The only downside to this camera, which for some isn't a downside at all, is that it offers far more options than I would ever use. However, I bought it for its compact size and large sensor, and it has delivered many, many terrific images for me.
Pros:
- Great image quality
Cons:
- More complicated than I need

The RX100 is an exciting camera - in part because it represents the arrival of another major manufacturer in the high-end, enthusiast compact market, but mainly because it's a spectacular piece of engineering.
Pros:
- Excellent image quality and solid ISO performance
- Class-leading movie features and quality
- A good degree of customization puts your favorite settings at your fingertips
- Fast operation
- including focus and Raw capture
- Flexible lens range (though a brighter zoom would have been nice
- Excellent...
Cons:
- Clickless control dial contributes to vague and unengaging shooting experience
- Flash metering is unpredictable
- Lack of ND filter can limit the ability to use wide apertures
- Screen hard to see in direct sunshine
- despite WhiteMagic technology
- No official option to fit filters onto the lens...
