Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100

We don't know why Sony took so long to make a pocket camera complete with a great sensor and an even greater lens. But we're glad they took this decision. Such a product was sorely needed. The superb pros of the previous model, the S100, are kept on the new Cyber-shot DSC-RX100. And we love that.

Sony RX100 Buying Guide: Which High-End Compact Camera Is Right for You?

Modern smartphones have all but killed the inexpensive pocket camera market. It's not a surprise—for casual snapshots, there are few more convenient tools than your phone, and the results are more than adequate for most folks. But there are still people out there who prefer to use a dedicated camera. You might want some zoom capability, or simply find it more comfortable to work wih physical controls. The 1-inch sensor format, now used by many camera makers, is about four times the size of the imager behind your smartphone lens, and more than twice the size of the 1/1.7-inch design tha...

Inherent design fault

Bought one of these three or four years ago and thought it so good I bought one for my son as well. Although seldom used, both worked well until both developed exactly the same fault, which makes them unusable. This fault seems to be well documented on forums and cannot be fixed via Sony helpline.

Takes great pictures, makes constant whirring noise

Bought this camera a couple years ago. It had great reviews and takes great pictures, but it has started whirring non-stop (like it is constantly trying to track or focus), and that is audible in all videos and makes it difficult to hear anything in the video over the whirring.

Sony DSC-RX100 II Review

The Sony RX100 II is one of the best compacts we have tested. The price point of Rs. 42,990 is something that is a bit of a bother. Allow us to explain. The Sony RX100 is still a capable camera and apart from a BSI sensor and improved sensitivity, the other additions such as Wi-Fi/NFC and hot-shoe...

The RX100 is an exciting camera - in part because it represents the arrival of another major manufacturer in the high-end, enthusiast compact market, but mainly because it's a spectacular piece of engineering.

  • Lack of ND filter can limit the ability to use wide apertures
  • Screen hard to see in direct sunshine
  • despite WhiteMagic technology
  • No official option to fit filters onto the lens...
