The Sony RX100 IV is a high compact really extraordinary range. It enhances the experience of the previous incarnation, especially in terms of operating speed and video capabilities.

It seems that Sony enjoys putting amazing technology in as many of its cameras as possible. It doesn't matter if it is a high-end or entry-level product, or if it is a professional interchangeable-lens camera or a compact camera. Sony likes to impress.

We're willing to blame some of the problems that we saw with the pre-production units on them not being finalized. But there generally still are some issues that we think that Sony could have addresses and revamped with this camera.

A great point and shoot camera with an 8x zoom that allows you to shoot from further away, but definitely take an extra battery if you wish to shoot for long hours.

Sony has been able to produce at least one of these cameras each year since 2012 and its very exciting to see that they've come a long way in terms of the new features on each generation.

Sony's long had a long-zoom camera for the SLR-style enthusiast, the RX10 IV, but its advanced compact line has had a less-than-3x zoom lens since the RX100 II appeared in 2014. With the RX100 VI, Sony ups that lens to an 8x, 24-200mm-equivalent with a reasonably fast aperture range of f2.8-4.5, making it more flexible travel and everyday camera. It also adds a Hybrid Log Gamma Picture Profile to enable HDR-compatible 4K UHD capture.

The update to the RX100 series adds a Hybrid log gamma profile for HDR capture and extends the lens from 24-70mm to 24-200mm for more general-purpose flexibility.

If you're looking for an ultra-compact camera that can deliver great-looking photos and video in almost any situation, and you're willing to pay a big premium for that, this is the model you should consider first.
