Stunning photo quality and a great all-rounder – and a price that's now a little easier to swallow

Excellent results in both stills and movies for such a compact camera. Build quality is also great, grip easy to improve with the optional addon by Sony or 3rd party. However, the general Sony UI philosophy, logic and coherence or lack thereof is a big letdown.

One of the side effects of the improvement in smartphone camera technology, and now genuine camera-smartphone hybrids like the Samsung Galaxy Zoom S4, is that manufacturers have looked to improve upon their advanced compact offerings.

I'm just not sure what the competition is with this one. HIGH Quality pics, better than average video, great glass. Sharp as a tack. Manual control for those who wish, certainly good enough to use only on Auto, though.

The Sony RX100 II is very portable and offers great image quality. Although it lacks the speedy lens and built-in viewfinder of its successor, it remains one of the best compacts you can buy.

Consider it as a DSLR in the pocket. Intelligent Auto mode gives the best photo you can take in any environment and SCN mode with Anti-Blur can be used to take stunning night photos.
