Sony Alpha 77 II Review

The Sony Alpha 77 II has one of the quickest autofocus systems we've seen on an SLR and can shoot at 12fps, making it our Editors' Choice. The Sony Alpha 77 II ($1,199.99, body only) is a camera that's sure to be of keen interest to photographers who capture fast action. The 24-megapixel APS-C SLR can fire off shots at 12fps and its 79-point autofocus system excels at tracking moving subjects. Its electronic viewfinder may turn some traditionalists off, but it's big, sharp, and clear enough to give competing optical finders a run for their money. Its design also allows for very quick autofocus when recording video, and Wi-Fi is built in. The Alpha 77 II earns our Editors' Choice award, ousting the Pentax K-3 ($1,085.95 at Adorama) from its perch. Design and FeaturesThe Alpha 77 II ( at Amazon)  looks a lot like the previous iteration of the camera, the Alpha 77 ( at Amazon) . The body measures 4.1 by 5.6 by 3.2 inches (HWD) and weighs 1.6 pounds. It's just a little bit bigger than the Canon EOS 70D ($1,277.00 at Amazon) (4.1 by 5.5 by 3.1 inches, 1.7 pounds), which carries some extra weight, likely because of its mor...

Sony A77 II review

Sony's digital camera designers have been so innovative in recent years that the A77 II might seem stuffy and conventional in comparison. There's no real risk of that, though. While it looks like an SLR, the reality is that Sony no longer makes SLR cameras.

Sony A77 II

With Sony basking in the success of its mirrorless cameras, such as the NEX-7 and a7R, the company had failed to release any new Single Lens Translucent (SLT) camera for the past two years. The SLT cameras use a fixed translucent mirror to direct light simultaneously to the image sensor and...

The successor to the a77 is here. Sony says the AF system is a whole lot better and so is the new imaging processor, which we've seen also on the Sony RX 100 III. Sony Alpha a77 II The 24MP APS-C shooter retains the same ergonomics and build quality as its predecessor, but also has significant...

Sony SLT-A77 II Review – First Impressions

It is difficult to evaluate the Sony designs Sony SLT-A77 II because there is nothing else like it available on the industry. While there are 'premium' super zoom digital cameras out there, such as the Olympus Stylus pen 1, the RX10's 1" indicator combined with a continuous F2.8 24-200mm lens places...

Well worth the upgrade!!

"I LOVE the a77II - It was well worth the upgrade from a580, which was a great camera - but this is fantastic! I am enjoying all the great features, and still lots more to learn. It's quiet, smooth and great/fast auto-focus, and great also in low light. You will not be disappointed."
