So much to enjoy
Coming from Canon, let me list what I like: 1) the evf is fantastic. What you see is what you get 2) the no blackout is addictive. Once you use it you can't go back 3) silent shooting is very odd at first 4) the exposure compensation dial is very convenient in concert with the evf 5) the picture...
Sony a9 (ILCE-9) review: Can a camera be more versatile
Sony Alpha A9 (or A9 for short) is designed to compete against with Canon and Nikon's professional DSLRs. Here is our review
Sony Alpha A9
2 years back, I experienced the fantastic Sony A7 II during a wedding shoot. It was worthy as a replacement to the DSLR, with a few exceptions, like the battery life, the auto-focus, and the whole organic feel of an optic equipment. What struck me…
Sony Alpha A9
The Sony Alpha A9 bridges the gap further between DSLR and mirrorless cameras with its incredibly fast autofocus system and 20 frames per second burst mode- Best autofocus on a mirrorless camera
- 20 FPS burst mode can be really helpful
- Great ergonomics
- Dual SD card slot
- Max burst rate on mechanical shutter limited to 5fps
- Second SD card slot not UHS compliant
More features than you can poke a stick at.
I bought the a9 and FE 70~200 2.8 because it is 340g lighter than the similar high end DSLR and lens I have. The dials on top are really easy to use and are clear to read. Auto focus and tracking is fast and accurate, more options in the menu to get and store set ups.
The Sony A9: If you photograph action, you'll want it (hands-on)
It's not perfect and it's too expensive for many of us, but the A9 is fast, accurate, lightweight and delivers on photo quality. Full-frame cameras for pro sports and wildlife photographers are the last bastion where dSLRs still rule. But the Sony A9 ($3,246 at Amazon) looks like it has the chops, if not to bring their reign to an end, to at least make significant inroads into the territory held by the Canon EOS-1D and Nikon D5 series models. In addition to a maximum continuous-shooting speed of 20 frames per second matched by a 693-point phase-detection autofocus system, the A9 brings in-body image stabilization, something those dSLRs lack.
Either way, you should know that no matter what, you're going to be getting a heck of a great camera. Sometimes you may need to do a bit extra editing, but this is by far the most reliable mirrorless camera on the market with a full frame sensor.
Sony A9 Hands-on, Quick Review: Insanely Quick Shooter
Sony officially launched their newest flagship mirrorless camera today, the A9. The new camera is aimed at professionals that require a fast shooter , something that has long been dominated by traditional DSLR offerings from brands like Canon and Nikon .
For nearly $6,700 you can be at the edge of the camera industry. If the A7 and A7 II series of cameras before it are any indication, the A9 is a camera that will age well. Shooters and videographers don't have many full-frame cameras that meet each other in the middle, but the A9 is probably one of...
Sony A9 Review: A Unique Fusion of Speed, Image Quality & Compact Mirrorless Camera Design
Upon returning home I couldn't resist spending a day on the bayou in an attempt to get some action shots of a Rougarou -Louisiana's fabled swamp-dwelling werewolf. Fortunately, there was nary a bloodthirsty monster in sight, but the Sony A9 performed admirably with more familiar subjects like flora...
