Sony Alpha A6400
Sony's Alpha a6400 is not a full-frame camera but it has plenty of features you'd associate with one. This makes this APS-C-format mirrorless camera a great choice if you’re serious about photography, but shopping within a set budget.
Full-frame autofocus
The autofocus system has the same technology as Sony's full-frame models, such as the renowned a9. 425 phase-detection AF points, and 425 contrast-detection AF points, cover around 84% of the image area. This combines with a BIONZ X image processing engine that lets you attain focus in just 0.02 seconds.
Indelible images
The BIONZ X processor plus a 24.2MP APS-C image sensor equals enhanced image quality and colour reproduction. Yet again, the Alpha a6400 has full-frame capability in this department, with image processing algorithms suppressing noise and preserving image resolution.
4K Movie Recording
The Alpha a6400 is fantastic for movie-making. The 4K UHD recording process results in high-quality 4K video footage with sharp detail and excellent depth. Vloggers like the camera for this very reason.
Shoot it your way
Shoot with greater freedom, thanks to features like the 180° 3.0" LCD tiltable flip screen with 921,600 dots of resolution; this allows for effective framing of selfie-style shooting for still and video capture.
A look at the lens
The lens is one of the most important features in any camera, and it's a standout in this model. The E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens spans the wide-angle to medium telephoto range, and is partnered with a 27-202.5mm equivalent zoom and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization feature, which vastly reduces camera shake during handheld shooting.
A newer model Sony Alpha A6500 was released in October 2016.

Sony stuffed in loads of features that give the a6400 a good value and the quality of its image makes it a good camera. Selfie mode with the monitor is a nice touch, but having it always obstructed by the EVF and any hot/cold shoe accessory is a bummer.
